Was decent enough as a kid, it was his old man that was his driving force and pestered the life out of scouts and coaches til he got a pro contract. The Specky Forum Organiser 64,995
Thomson's a no-brainer, delighted for him Vignal seems random but they've obviously seen something in him Taylor has a decent pedigree
james_85 656
I like the fact that Murty has brought in people like Jimmy Nicholl and Kevin Thomson as they come across like they don't take any shite and I imagine there would be a fear factor there that I don't see that Murty has. - never realised KT was for the youths

After a few years of working with our youths, we should be encouraging them to go out as number ones on their own so they are getting proper managerial experience elsewhere but because they also know the club and how it operates from a coaching POV, we are almost building a pool of coaches who we can dip into when the times comes for us to appoint a new manager in the future. It’s a bit of a fanciful ideal but that’s what we should be striving for. This is exactly what we should be doing. We also should give them a bit of time working in several sections of the club so they have a wide understanding of the various departments of the club. In the long term this could be beneficial if one comes back and manages us
Negri's lovechild 14,117
Good appointments and good to see the club are bringing someone like Thomson into the club. Can only be positive for the young players coming through
pcbear 10,923
I can see nothing but positives in this, if KT is as good a coach as they say he will soon be working his way through the ranks, pleased with this move. Has anyone left?
Getstiffed 8,863
Delighted for kev tbh. Top guy imo. However my baws fizz like fuck whenever i see supporters try to reduce his time here to just tackles. The boy could play. Was one of the best passers of the ball during his time at the club and that's saying something.
Teddybear123 215
Good news, the more we employ staff who understand the club like Thompson does the better.

Praise should go to Craig Mulholland in my opinion, who really is a credit to us!
plumbGER 24,518
This should be good for playing the youngsters when we get put back down to division 3 again. In all seriousness, happy for KT and it's a positive step for the club.

WCPRANGERS1 2,997
Really delighted Thomson has been appointed and with him having his academy that could really benefit us. Also I like that we've been bringing in ex players and from across Europe could get us other good links. I see the other coach is for the summer..... RAFREG 471
Something is beginning to stir down Ibrox way. An methinks the tinks are just a wee bit worried.
NeoGeo7 10,543
Walter left a big impression on Thomson so hopefully there will be some of Walter in his coaching style, though with youths murty’s approach of positivity and encouragment I’d imagine would rub off better. As I said earlier I really think Thomson can climb the ladder and who knows about being an assistant or even manager at a much later date.
