Steven Gerrard would consider becoming Rangers's new manager, with the Scottish side set to offer him the job.

The Liverpool legend is being viewed as a potential permanent successor to Pedro Caixinha, who was sacked as manager of the Scottish giants seven months ago.

And Gerrard could find himself facing his former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers in Old Firm matches next season.

Gerrard does not have any first-team managerial experience, although he has been in charge of the Reds Under 18s during this campaign.

The Champions League winner has also been coaching the Under 19s in UEFA Youth League matches.

While a move to Rangers would represent a colossal leap, Gerrard is not troubled by the challenge he would face in Scotland.

Rangers director of football Mark Allen is leading the move for the former midfielder.

Dave King, Rangers chairman, was spotted at Anfield during Liverpool's win against Roma, while Gerrard was at the ground working as a pundit for BT Sport.

A move for Gerrard would confirm that Graeme Murty's spell as interim manager will not be made permanent.
