Who’s leaving in the summer?

Recommended Posts

Was looking at the 11 and subs yesterday, and we’re actually looking like a pretty steady and settled side now - although that could change come the transfer window. Think we’ll be saving a fair bit on wages without too much effect on the squad depending on who we shift...

Loans expired: Worrall, Coulibally, Kent (might be back)

Contracts expired: Wallace, McAuley, Hodgson

Out on loan, but likely to be moved on (1 year to go): Alnwick, Holt, Dodoo

Perma injured: Rossiter, Dorrans

Gerrard’s naughty list: Grezda, Barasic, Lafferty

Unsure (needing first team football): Fod, Docherty, Hardie

Potentially sold: Tav and Morelos (hopefully not)

——

Good opportunity to put some of the freed up wages on real quality.

Edit: can’t remember what the deal with Pena and Herrera is. Forgot about the useless bastards.

If we were actually guaranteed (big IF) circa £28 million for Morelos and Tav plus whatever king puts in maybe another £6m. That’s a huge kitty for SG to be working with to get the required quality in to win the league. People will say we’d be stupid to sell them and we’ll have to agree to disagree on that but unfortunately that’s the market we are operating in now, buying cheap and selling big is the model while we play in this footballing backwater.

I can't help but feel that if Docherty wasn't our player folk would be recommending him, he has done well on his loan so deserves a chance to show what he can do

Docherty & Rossiter will get their chance in pre season to impress just like everyone else. Clean slate.

Pena is away to some 2nd division Polish team on a permanent. Herrera was papped back pout on loan and I imagine will be either sold or released in the summer.

Holy shit, how high are you right now?  Even if we sold them for that amount (and it would be more like half of that) there's no way King is investing it all in player signings.

We’ll see. If you’d listen to Gerrard over the past year, gone are the days of us selling our players for buttons. We’ve all got all the bargaining chips both players are under long contracts.

28m is crazy talk and even then we'd be doing well to have half it reinvested

Who's Hodgson?

Ive never heard of him either but the opening post says his contract is expiring so id imagine its not going to be renewed.

Like I said we’ll see, no chance Tav is going for any less than 8, Armstrong went for that to Southampton last year and with the contract situation with Morelos we have all the power. Dembele went to Lyon for £20 million so there’s your precedent. He’s also a far better player than Dembele.

A dozen or more could leave and it would have zero impact on our first team such is their lack of contribution. Unfortunately its next summer not this one that we'll have more flexibility as more go out of contract. Gerrard and Allen have got their work cut out trying to offload some of this lot sooner which really would be beneficial for our transfer kitty.

Armstrong was a standout in a treble winning team with international and Champions League experience.

Morelos is a better player than he was when he was here but there are other factors.

It's irrelevant anyway because we won't be reinvesting that type of money on the playing squad.

I think we would A) because I don’t think Gerrard would be pleased if his best players were being sold and he wasn’t given all the money to reinvest in the team. B) we’re two season away from having 10 in a row rubbed in our noses for all time. Desperate times and all that.

That's not living in the real world.

Half of it? Maybe aye. All of it? Absolutely not.
