In the summer were we in a position to let go of our best players with a £30/40m windfall for the league winners

No....the key was making the champions league group stages this season....we fucked that so it really does all boil down to winning the league this campaign

Just had a quick look and £4.2 million pound from retail income.

Was it £3million up front?

So up to end of June 2021, kits, retro gear and 55 merchandise we made £1.2 million…

Hmmm

Doesn’t make good reading that at all.

We’ve been told we’ve sold 500,000 units of Merch which means on a fag packet we made roughly £2-£3 on each unit. When the majority of those units are £60+ then that’s an area that needs to be held more accountable as to why that’s the case

During the course of the year, the Club was approached with a number of investment proposals, notably from the private equity and family office sphere. We are extremely fortunate to have an investor group that is able and willing to match or better the indicative terms from such groups whilst retaining the ownership in the hands of dedicated Rangers supporters.

Embarrassment for who?

You'd hope the boys would beat the women.

Also imagine the bad PR if we weren't the biggest or one of the biggest investors of women's football in Scotland.

We are the biggest spenders in the league yet have failed to beat Celtic or Glasgow City let alone win the league.

There has to be some serious consideration where that level of investment is really worth it. If we had 10s of millions in the bank then I don't see the harm in investing in the womens side but when we have nothing and loaning our way then there has to be some sort of common sense.

There is literally little to no interest in womens football on a large scale.

Retail Income :-

2020/21 - £4.2m
2019/20 - £3.3m
2018/19 - £3.3m

Every little helps but making 900k more than Hummel Elite deal is fucking piss poor.

Castore worked it good when putting money up front and making it up on the back end. Add to that the board didn't have to invest a penny into the retail or logistics.

Edit - seen the tarriers made £22m from their merchandise over the same period with £6m upfront from adidas.

£3m - £4.2m

£6m - £22m

Something really does stink about this deal.

We have 74m losses over a 5 year period, taigs have an 18m profit over same period.

Yet we are the reigning champions, top of the league, have the better squad and management team.

Who bid for Goldson that we knock back money from....just out of interest?

We can't sell a player without an interested buyer....that's how transfers work

We can sell a player if we offer him out to clubs for a reasonable price. Going by the only player we had serious transfer interest for over the summer, the board had set that mark very high.

Not for me, I genuinely don't remember us hocking any player, if a club shows interest then maybe perhaps the players agent would then try and get him a better move

Other than the club putting Goldson on the transfer list we ain't phoning clubs up about his availability

Think I said something similar last year, no matter what industry you operate within, you cannot continue to post millions of pounds worth of losses on an annual basis without having to address at some point. Since 2012, we have posted >£100m of losses so the business model needs addressed.  However, every club will post losses for this latest year, it’s what you’re doing about it that’s important.

Success on the park drives success off it so some cash generated through player sales will need invested in the playing staff. For me, it still beggars belief we didn’t sell someone in the summer, even from a business model perspective.

The board shat the bed with summer recruitment knowing fine well we had champions league qualifiers. We were promised quality over quantity in terms of recruitment and got neither which obviously had knock on effects to our qualification thus the loss of 30m. If we had failed to qualify we could have then accepted some player sales as justifiable to cover those losses.

Regardless it makes pretty grim reading whatever way you look at it and the way the team is playing we need significant investment if we are looking to retain the league this year and qualify for the champions league.

I’m sorry but that’s ludicrous. We had a £23million loss, spending big on the hope of CL was fucking lunacy this summer.

Also as much as we don’t want to admit it, Gerrard and the players fucked up the CL qualifiers. We went out to fucking Malmö, lost £5-6million for missing the play off round, where we would have faced Ludogorets.

Both those clubs will run at about 1/10th of the budget we do, so the board have more than backed Gerrard.

The majority of Rangers fans I know freely admit Gerrard and the players made a cunt of it in the CL qualifiers.

If we had banked this seasons Champions league money and next we'd take some catching for the foreseeable future but alas we fucked it up.

Remember that we dealing with a fixed time period. Castore may just give us our cut every 6 months (say) in which case the extra funds will be in next years accounts.

Given the form of a number of players at the moment, it’s just gotten even more difficult to realise the kind of amounts we should’ve in player sales.

Where previously we could’ve gotten £10-£12m for Borna, £15m+ for Alfie, £8-10m for Goldson, those have gone up in smoke.

Yeah, it’s still realistic to get good money for Kent, Kamara and Hagi, the value of lots of players will undoubtedly have dropped considerably now.

And selling Kent or Kamara doesn’t bear thinking about. We’ve already come to regret not selling an Alfie or Borna, sadly.

Do Celtic not own their retail operation? I can't be arsed looking at their latest report but if that is the case it would make sense their retail revenue would be massive compared to ours. Remember we don't run ours, we get from Castore an upfront payment + % of sales. We don't wear any costs.
