wow, not like you to move the goalposts is it. Nothing was said about his coaching style from the first day was it?

dont other responding i cant be arsed with you today

There were a handful (probably less than 5) posters on here who were critical of his appointment. Literally nobody was saying 'keep the zero' to mock him when he first arrived. That didn't come until this season.

Stifled kent so much that kent had better numbers in less game under him

Kents no kicked his own arse since the 55 season. Bar the odd performance in Europe he's been lacklustre. Sick of his heavy touches, trying to beat defenders before they're anywhere near him then tripping over the ball and skying it from the edge of the box. Frustrating as fuck cos he does have the ability.

Dont get the people who said the whole appointment of Gio/backroom staff gave them no confidence. On paper it was a superb appointment, Gio one of the best players of his era, Roy one of the greatest stickers of the 00's, Vos who had been successful with the Ajax youths.

Someone will need to explain to me why 'keep the zero' would be used to criticise someone?

Gerrard built 55 on a record breaking defence. Beale has spoken about how important it is to the team that Goldson and Davies have formed a partnership.

It's an absolute must in a successful team

Gerrards league winning team were the highest scorers for the last 6 seasons.

Gerrard didn't build his teams on defence and his priority was never keeping a clean sheet. He built his teams on controlling games, which led to us scoring a lot of goals and conceding few.

Gio got criticised because he used the keep-the-zero mantra to play turgid defensive football which struggled to break down the opposition. The worst thing of all is we conceded fucking loads of goals. Last season we conceded more goals than any since our first season back in the SPFL and I wouldn't be surprised if 2022 was the year we've conceded the most goals in our recent history in all comps.

To go into games against the likes of Dundee and Ross County talking about "Keeping the zero" and setting up with a defensive-minded team was stupid. Having a good defence does not mean setting up defensively. celtic play very attacking football and are about to break the most goals scored in a season, but also have conceded the least.

None of that changes the fact that using 'keep the zero' as a stick to beat someone with is stupid

Lennon’s team scored 3 less goals the season before when Covid stopped.

We conceded 50 goals in the 17/18 season so you were wrong. In the 25 league games he conceded 18, compared to 13 in 13 under Gerrard, so he improved us defensively last season.

Scored 19 goals in 6 games against Dundee and Ross County. Real defensive that.
