Think the danger was us buying him to make an immediate profit this summer. Only way Tillman would've signed on a temp basis.

Can't. Players now can't be transferred twice within 16 weeks. Had we signed him last week when the window officially opened, we couldn't sell him again until October.

I was already resigned to Tillman not being here next season so a bit of extra money helps to soothe the loss of a quality player and the kind of fee he'll command in the future.

When did that rule come into place? Thought it was playing for the club rather than a transfer? Either way it could've easily been Boumsong 2.0

I’m maybe being dense here but why would Bayern pay to cancel it when by all accounts Tillman would have said no to us anyway? Maybe just to safeguard against him changing his mind I suppose.

'Bridge transfers' are verboten so it's just laziness if people are reporting flips. There's not even any ambiguity in it where there might be a 'but' to work around it. To the best of my knowledge, the only exceptions are where a player returns from loan (technically a transfer as registration goes from loan club back to parent) and then the player is sold that window.
