EDIT. Have checked back Aberdeen, Hearts and Livi supported our motion in 2020 and now Motherwell, St Johnstone and St Mirren have signed the letter. Late to the party and should have more guts 4 years ago. 
Interestingly Hearts supported the motion in 2020 but haven't signed the letter. Guess they were only looking after themselves in 2020 because they were being relegated on a PPG basis.

It's not.
Sometimes the club will send them back to the parent club if they're not going to be back before the end of the loan as there's no point them being treated there if they're never going to play for them again, but they won't cancel the loan and will still be paying the wages.

Think his wages will be covered as he got injured on international duty. 

Judging by the papers and Clement's cautiousness in his quotes I wouldn't be surprised if we never see him play for us again this season, possibly not ever.

I certainly hope so, but Cantwell’s performance - good or bad - is primarily down to him. Our midfield has been pretty poor for large parts of the season, but that doesn’t get Dessers a pass to any degree, so a poor forward line isn’t a get out for Cantwell.
