celtc interested in Jimmy Bullard

Celtic have won the race to sign Hull midfielder Jimmy Bullard.

Bullard has agreed to join the Scottish giants on a 12-month loan deal after Newcastle dropped their interest in him.

The former Wigan and Fulham star will undergo a medical and is expected to complete his move to Parkhead before the end of the week.

Bullard would have preferred to have remained in the Premier League but Newcastle were the only club to show interest in the injury-prone star, before manager Chris Hughton decided to look elsewhere.

I actually have a feeling this wont be true. Seems to be only the Mirror with the story.

Why would Bullard want to leave the premiership for Scotland unless he wants european football.

But even then he is at the wrong end of the city.

Surely one of the teams would take him?

Maybe no one wants him becuase of his injury record.

Either way if he signs or not I wouldnt be bothered.

CELTIC are now favourites to sign Jimmy Bullard after Newcastle pulled out of the race.

But SunSport can reveal the injury-ravaged Hull midfielder is determined to cling to his Premier League dream.

Bullard wants to continue his career starring in England's top flight.

But he would consider a switch to Parkhead if no one down south made a move to land him this summer.

Reports last night claimed that the 31-year-old had already agreed a 12-month loan deal at Celts, but these were rubbished by sources close to the player.

Bullard, Hull's £5million record buy when he joined from Fulham 17 months ago, is intrigued by Celtic's interest.

He has been in touch with friends north of the border, sounding them out as he considers his future.

Bullard has yet to speak with Celtic's boss-in-waiting Neil Lennon, but it's understood he would be willing to meet face-to-face.

But Celtic's hopes of landing him rest on no one in the Premier League targeting the midfielder.

Newly-promoted Newcastle are the only club so far to have shown a genuine interest in signing him with Blackburn Rovers and Bolton refusing to gamble on Bullard's fitness.

However, SunSport has learned St James' Park boss Chris Hughton has now decided to look elsewhere as he bids to strengthen his squad for the Toon's return to the top flight.

Relegated Hull are desperate to get Bullard's staggering £45,000-a-week pay packet off their £39.3m wage bill.

The cash-strapped Humberside outfit are battling to stay out of administration with crippling debts of £35m.

Shedding Bullard's salary would help ease their financial crisis.
