I went to a city game last year because the guys i was on a course with down there were going so went along. They have at the rear of the stadium a building which houses the megastore and their ticket office under one roof. Across from that a fanzone which included an EA sports booth where they hold fifa competitions amongst the home fans a few hours before kick off, and a stage with the pundits talking about the match with the cameras broadcasting it around the outside of the stadium on the mobile LED screens. I know it wont happen anytime soon that is for sure, but imagine the money we could bring in when we get finances sorted, and start investing for the future income . You could have local bands playing the stage an hour before the game to turn it into a family day out. Before anyone tears in and tells me i'm dreaming i know that, but its a vision for the future i hope comes true.

I remember reading the cost to convert it to anything would be prohibitive due to the asbestos that needs clearing (of course that may be a vicious rumour).

My understanding too. To knock it down would require a specialist asbestos contractor - very expensive. To redevelop it inside and out would require the asbestos to be sealed or removed. Given that it is probably fire proofing within the walls and voids - this would be cost prohibitive. I agree that it would be a fantastic spot for a pub / club / museum / restaurant - but would need significant dosh.

Something also at the back of my mind from the dark and dim past - does the club still own EH - or was that wagered / ransomed / flogged off for tuppence also?

The club does own it but can do little with it without serious funds

Toilet manufacturing facility apparently..

This way, we can simply send off a few pieces of fine porcelain to whom ever requires them and save on receiving invoices of epic proportion for alleged damage caused.....

You cannot beat a bit of toilet humour.

Is the asbestos being treated to make the building safe to use or is the signage out side just cosmetic to make the building look better?

Asbestos is only a problem if it's disturbed. It's probably in more buildings than you would think.

Interesting...

Edmiston House is a strange one. I've heard suggstions of it being converted into a museum, but I believe we have sufficient history inside the stadium. It's too big to be a superstore, too, I think. That would be a waste. It used to be a pub/bar type idea, didn't it?

I'm out of ideas when it comes to it, but sitting there empty isn't doing anyone any favours.

Didn't Charlie Chuckles want it to be converted into a superstore a cafe (Costa or Starbucks) and pub and restaurant. The current Ashley store was to be the ticket office.  Not sure about how bubble that would be but as a regular driver to the games a good coffee shop would be just great and a proper superstore equally good.

It's in nearly all buildings dating from 1900 to the late 1970s and even later in some cases as some artex and plaster contained asbestos till mid 80s but as you said unless it's damaged or disturbed and the particles become airborne it doesn't cause any risk.
