Graeme Murty is delighted to get the chance to face Celtic in his testimonial match next May.

The Royals skipper looked as though he would be denied the chance to face the Scottish giants after initial plans to play them this summer were ruled out because of police costs.

Inter Milan were then lined up, but Murty was forced to scrap that and delay his benefit match until next year after the club suffered relegation and had to alter their pre-season schedule as the Championship campaign kicks off earlier than the Premier League fixtures.

Murty’s father is an ardent Bhoys fan, having grown up near Celtic Park and the Glasgow outfit have agreed to play.

Police costs are also much lower as there are no other major events in May.

Royals’ skipper said: “It is a great honour for me for Celtic to come and play in this match.

“With my dad being a life-long fan, the club has always featured very strongly in our family.

“It’s a dream to get them down here and I’m sure the fans will love seeing one of the biggest clubs in Britain here.”

Season not going well, manager leaves, cup game 2 days later and new manager comes in and stables the ship...

Fast forward to 2017 and we have 3 out of 4 so far...

That manager stabled the ship by spending a good few million that January window as well

This new manager will get a tenner note and told to bring back change

Why are people coming out saying our clubs an embarrassment. A manager who didn't want to be there,  got his agent to negotiate a deal to let him leave, then he resigned. He's tried to backtrack & stay because the job fell through & now he's not got a job to go to. It's him that should be embarrassed not the club. The club put out an official statement saying what's happened. If Warburton & his agent don't communicate, it's not our fault

Celtic supporter or not. If he does his chances good with a convincing win and goes on a good run I couldn't give a monkeys.  I'm sure I heard that big jock was a Rangers fan I could be wrong.

the fact is being a supporter matters not a jot and in a lot of cases can make it worse.

What part of the article states he supports Celtic? None of it.

Without spelling it out in black and white:

I think it's safe to assume where he was every second Saturday whilst younger.

Jesus wept!!!

Because as per usual our beloved board have failed to get all their i dotted and t's crossed before going off half cocked AGAIN.

No one is saying Warburton shouldn't be gone but just for once can we not do it properly ffs.

Great a fucking bheast leading us

The Godfather, I think the days of needing a dyed in the wool Ranger's fan as a manager are gone and also at this time we are on the verge of losing our way in the league. We need a seemless transfer of management team and serious backing from the board of directors. I think fans are fed up with jobs for the boys when it comes to vacancies within Ibrox:duh:

nothing to do with jobs for the boys it's about not having a taig in charge of Rangers.

There's quite a range of options between jobs for the boys & jobs for the Bhoys.

Stop it with that kind of thing. You know theres no place for sensible comments in here.

Not like a player to drum up support for his testimonial by fawning over the visitors its never ever happened elsewhere in the whole history of footbàll.

fucking embarrassing. should've just made kenny the temporary player/manager until we get a proper manager in. fucking taig. bet he'll make sure we lose tomorrow against the mighty morton.

He can't. He doesn't have any of his coaching badges. Not to mention he's an ex Celtic player.
