stuart1994 4,323
Another point from yesterday was could see the defenders were a lot more confident in giving McLaughlin the ball than they ever are with McGregor. ger4life_1872 29,685
Felt a bit safer at corners and helps with playing out from the back but if it got to pens I wanted shagger on Polo, OrangeRab and hawkfalcons
real boydie9 17,774
McGregor will be back in goal for our remaining matches, imo. McLaughlin will be our first choice keeper next season.
Popular Post OrangeRab 2,848
He’ll go down as one of the greats. But he isn’t the same player as last year. On his day he’s still world class. But there’s no time for sentiment. His save percentage is down from 86 to 70%. (So that’s about twice as many shots getting past him). His prevented goals was -.3 for the first half of the season. He barely makes it into the top half for any goalkeeping statistics (high balls collected, faults, saves, expected goals). A lot of our dropped points he was culpable for. Ross county brain fart. Both Motherwell goals he should have done better (younger McGregor would have come for the cut back. Beaten near post for second). Dundee united corner he didn’t come for. Hatate against celtic. Lucky not to be sent off against Aberdeen and concede a penalty. Then he was at fault for 2 goals vs Hibs in the cup. Both v good keepers but on balance I think you have to go with McLaughlin whose all round game just gives you more now than the odd wonder save. graeme_4, falkirkNS, JograBear and 2 others
CoplandRoad83 3,336
Has to be McLaughlin for me. Despite probably being the 2nd best keeper in my lifetime at the club, we are too vulnerable from crosses now with McGregor. The thought of us playing West Ham in a Europa final, with the likes of Soucek given free license to get on the end of crosses in the six yard box already gives me the fear. graeme_4, Docspawn, WeeJacksonRFC and 1 other
SonicWill 837
I think McGregor is a much better shot stopper but McLaughlin is much quicker off his line and better with his distribution - which is really important for the way we play. I don’t think McLaughlin is sufficient quality to be number one but is an excellent backup. Ideally or next season we’d be looking for a new number one that can combine McGregor and McLaughlin’s best traits.

.Williamson. 82,876
Wouldn’t have an issue with it, thought his ability to come off his line and claim crosses was a big positive OrangeRab

Only mistake was that corner when he tried to control it on the line. Bassey shouldn’t have been constantly passing it back to him and putting him under pressure tbf. SIRB_72 4,029
McLaughlin should have been in weeks ago. I also don't mind giving him the shirt next season. He's solid, reliable, experienced and a pretty confident goalie. His record for us is extremely impressive across the board as well. graeme_4
ElBufalo20 7,925
We’ve played celtic 4 times this season won 2 lost 2. McGregor didn’t play in any of the victories. King Jela

theiconicman 2,994
As much as I love McGregor I think teams know our weakness is high balls into the box, McLaughlin has those covered far better than McGregor bluenoz

King Jela 20,529
McGregor alone has cost us at least 11 points in the league this year. 11 fucking points. He also played a major part in 4 out of the last 5 goals the tims scored against us before Sunday. If there's even the slightest bit of hope left for the league then McGregor simply cannot play, cost us far too much already. graeme_4

JackAlex93 11,457
Felt a lot more confident on Sunday with balls in to the box knowing it was Mclaughlin who was between the sticks. holdnudgehold 58
Feel bad for McGregor but really has to be McLaughlin till end of season. An audition to see if he genuinely can be 1st choice next season. Never felt nervous with him as have with McGregor this season (bar the dribble out the park Sunday). Difficult scenario; feels as if nothing to lose based McGregor's overall form this season and yet everything to lose with what's still to play for and maybe the possibility of McGregor actually coming into some form. DrLaudrup 4,690
I think McGregor is fantastic for all he’s down for us but the difference this season is confidence. Historically I always felt in a one on one or high pressure situation he would bail us out. Same with Goram. On his day he remains outstanding. We traditionally say he’s worth 10-15 points a season. But he’s made too many mistakes this year that have cost us points. I no longer have that confidence in him. There can’t be room for sentimentality. graeme_4 34,787
Sure most won’t like it, but I think McGregor has cost us the league this season. Culpable for at least 9 dropped points IMO.
