If he’s signing a new deal then it should be on a reduced rate which tbf he’s never going to

How much will it cost to replace him?

If we can get someone as good on a free, fair enough.  But if we end up spending 3M+ then that's not a saving

If it’s 3 million on a young player that we could maybe flip or at worst get money back then it’s better than paying a 30yr old 30k a week for 3 years.

Tav,Goldson and Lundstram take away over 5 million a year from Rangers at moment and we’re likely never to get a single monetary return from any of them.

Exactly - why would anyone when they are doing well accept a pay cut?

He’ll want as good a deal as he can get as it’ll be his last big deal.

We shouldn’t be offering any more big money deals to any players 30 or above.

Aye we should take a chance on a £3m + a wages on an inexperienced gamble to chase what we’ve already got.

We might not get a monetary return on them but if they contribute to us possibly qualifying for the Champions league or extended runs in Europe then it's justified.

At the moment Lundstram is pivotal to the way we play under PC and if he thinks we should be trying to keep him then I'll trust that.

There's other players we should be saving money on, at this moment in time it's not Lundstram.

A new signing is far more likely to succeed playing against someone who already knows the club and playing well(Lundstram, Tab, Goldson) than another new player too.

Who says the replacement will be inexperienced? We are just about to sign a 22 year old with over a 100 games under his belt.

They do exist you know.

Like who?

What players do we have on 30k a week who are looking at a new multi year deal on same or maybe even improved terms up to wages like Tav, Butland and Goldson.

People saying we shouldn’t pay him what he’s on just now, would cost us a fucking fortune to try replace him.

I’ve said that mate. He’d cost at least £2mil to replace and I doubt that would even buy anyone near the standard that he is.
