John Lundstram

Not sure if this is a PC or confidence thing. But when he takes the ball on the turn he looks so dangerous.

For the first goal yesterday his first movement is to open his body and take a touch to drive to their goal.

Same with Cantwell’s goal.

So much more dangerous than the touch back towards our own goal and sideways pass.

Agree with @STEPPS BOY. I wouldn't give him a new contract.

We need every bit of his wage to buy a midfielder that can put their foot on the ball and control a game's tempo in the middle of the park. We are absolutely desperate for it.

Get rid of Raskin then as he is hopeless, apart from a stint when he 1st moved here, he has been garbage.

Never said anyone earning the same but getting guys like Roofe, Davies, Jack, Cifuentes, Matondo, Wright, Lammers and arguably Dessers off the wage bill would be more beneficial than someone who is playing a major role under the new manager.

We would then start to build a squad round these important experienced players.

We’ve been trying to get Davies and Wright pff the wage bill for a year now but them Dessers, Lammers and Cifuentes are contracted so far more difficult to get rid.

Age catches up with every player and once Lundstrams legs go he doesn’t have the ability of say a Steven Davis to modify his game like he did.

People wont like it but compare and contrast with another deep lying midfielder who plays not far away and absolutely ran the show against us a few weeks back and not for the first time either.

you really have a chip on your shoulder about him over a 50/50 ?

the good he has done heavily outweighs any negative.

No, he was to show he chucked it.

I agree with this but doesn't that also allow others to approach him on pre contract?

He already can tbf

wee bit convenient he’s playing really well coming up to needing a new contract but I can’t fault his recent performances. Some players once they get their contract take their foot off the gas and revert back to type though.

He's only just turning 30 so has easily another 2 years in him before his legs will start to go.

He’s been good recently but wouldn’t give him 30k a week again, half that I’d be happy not sure he will be

We’re hardly going to offer him the same terms at 29/30 that we did when he was 26/27. The contract on offer will be worth considerably less p/w than his current one. Up to him if he wants to take the drop and stay at a real club, or fuck off back down south to a nothing club and earn 5/10K a week more.

Because he’s 3 years older and isn’t worth the same as he was 3 years ago. He could probably get the same, or slightly more at a Championship club. That’s what I mean about 5/10K more. He’s not going back  down and commanding a huge wage anyway.

Aye would never have thought a football player would go elsewhere for an extra 10k a week

Would rather have a guy who's done reasonably well and is on his game just now offered at least the same terms as he's on just now.

How motivated is he going to be to stay and what's he going to think if we walk in to a negotiation and offer him considerably less?

People are on drugs if they think a 30 year old who is our best midfielder is going to take a paycut, people talking like he's 37.

There was a reason he came up the road, which was cause it was the best deal available and wasn’t getting it elsewhere. Guys been shite bar a 6 month period to Seville and about 2 months under Clement.

30K a week far better spent on someone who we can sell on for good money.
