Transfers, rumours, wants etc

No more projects.

Any new arrivals need to IMPROVE the first team, not replace Scott Wright or Steven Davis on the bench.

No team at the World Cup has played with wide players glued to the touchline like Kent - with most happy (and much more effective) cutting in and linking with midfield.

A long term, permanent keeper is a must although probably summer for that one.

we will always sign project players and the sooner many accept that the better, it’s literally the model we are using

I accept that there will be the occasional transfer bought with a long term benefit in mind but you only need to look across the city to see how new players bought can go straight into the first team and improve it. That has to be our priority at the moment.

they’ve spent a fucking fortune, we don’t have fortunes to spend, we will sign more aribo and bassey types than we will ready made first team players.

don’t necessarily believe that is the correct way but it’s how it will be for us

So many people overlook how much money they’ve spent to put that team together.

We need players in that walk into our team.

We are currently bloated with absolute average squad players.

January window will let us know what kind of manager Beale is.

it’s the club ethos it won’t matter if it’s beale, klopp or mike bassett, wether any of us agree or not, project players, aribo, matondo etc will be the type of players we get

You are right that the majority of our signings will be project players with a view to developing and selling long term.

But we'll also add a couple of experienced players as well. We did in the summer with Colak and last summer with Lundstram.

of course we will, like we’ve always done but people thinking we are signing 6 or 7 all singing all dancing ready to go players are in for a huge shock

Ideally we need at least 2-3 first team ready players.

For me first team ready Keeper, Midfielder and RW needed.

Nobody’s thinking that.  Most are realistic and hopefully we get a couple that can strengthen the squad. And perhaps a few existing players will see a bounce from a new manager.

Porteous is a good centre back in Scotland. He’s a moron but if he was a Rangers fan then people would be much more open to it. There’s talent in Scotland who would improve in our team. Nobody really wanted Jack, Kamara, or Wright and all three (when available) have been definite upgrades to the squad.

The project model works when you do it incrementally. So you have your core. And then every window you add 2-3 under 25 project players.

We did this weird thing where the summer before Gerrard left we didn’t sign anybody. Then we did 2 loan signings. And we kept on a bunch of guys we shouldn’t.

So we’re basically in the hole of about 3-4 players that should be youngish and starting.

Which would only leave us needing to sign another 2-3 starters over the next 2 windows. Instead of the 5-6 we currently need.

Now it feels like we can’t afford any more gambles because of those errors/bad windows.

Jack and Kamara have been key players in a squad who have won the league once in 4 seasons soon to be 5, not sure they're good examples of why we should be signing players from this level.
