Get the board out

Recommended Posts

Manager been badly let down in window. Squad is somehow weaker than last year. Add the numerous other fuck ups like the stadium, Ed house cost spiral, Elite case etc. Board have been horrendous for years and now we need to watch our titles record disappear. We’re a shitshow, probably already the Dortmund of Scotland. It’s on their watch and yesterday’s window was final straw. Chase them!!!

Worth remembering there’s two Board’s.

’the PLC Board’ (owners / investors)

- John Bennett - Chairman

- Jullian Wolhardt - Non-Executive Director

- George Taylor - Non-Executive Director

- Alastair Johnston - Non-Executive Director

- Graeme Park - Non-Executive Director

- John Halsted - Non-Executive Director

and ‘the men’s football operational board’ (guys who run the club day to day -

“The board is comprised of Chairman John Bennett, CEO James Bisgrove; Manager Philippe Clement; Director of Football Operations Creag Robertson; Director of Medical and Performance Dr Mark Waller; Academy Director Zeb Jacobs; and now the club's new Director of Football Recruitment, Nils Koppen.”

Need to be clear who we’re wanting out really. Is it actually that we want a competent CEO running the club, or that we want the owners and investors to sell up to someone else (who may then want to change guys who run us day to day)?

CEO - Jim Gillespie

Director of Football operations - Creag Robertson

Academy Director - Davie McCallum (at this moment)

An utter embarrassment

Dunno much about the incoming CEO, but can’t be much worse than Stewart Robertson.

Don't think we can pass judgement on Gillespie yet, other than it could be a bit of a lazy appointment because he's already pals with our board.

Can't actually judge the type of CEO he'll be til he comes, if he comes, seems to have gone quiet on CEO front.

CEO is usually a longer term impact too.

All of them are yes men. Same as Bisgrove and Robertson.

Do folk really believe the guy to drive our business forward is a guy that works at St Mirren?

Even just getting by Kiev banked us £5million, that would’ve been enough to go and get Sima.

Like the Malmo game under Gerrard, not getting into the PO CL qualifier cost us.

Massively. We had two chances, end of last season, fucked it. This season, fucked it. We have done the best we can with what we have at the moment. We need to win the league this year for any kind of actual rebuild. Hopefully get some wins in the europa and progress for a bit more cash

Don't think that was the case tbh.

CEO is a different type of role. It’s more about the character, the team he builds around him, and the strategy he develops, rather than where they come from.

Know nothing about him though.

It was the case.

Neither him or Robertson where in a position to make a decision before having to run it by The Parks in Robertsons case and then Bennett in Bisgroves case.

No doubt we’re up shits creek because of previous mistakes.

But there’s a noticeable change of course here.

Cortes 20, Dio 22, Barron 21, Kasanwirjo 22, Nsiala 20, Igamane 22, Bejrami 25.

That’s beginning to look like a player trading model since Clement has arrived.

Serious questions need to be asked why this wasn’t implemented sooner.

Fans have a lot to do with this tbh, we demand instant success especially knowing they were firstly going for ten, then closing in on our trophy count

We should have started this after seville arguably, and to an extent maybe we kinda tried with yilmaz, tillman plus still had the likes of kent etc on the books (till they never signed new deal)

But we seemed too focused on what that mob were doing instead of focusing on ourselves

I think we were driven by success, wanting to win meant sticking with players for too long.
Two things have happened recently

The board have undoubtedly changed our way forward and employed a manager with a track record of developing young talent and meets the boards criteria for change

Clement has extended his contract recently to implement his strategy about developing youngsters, bringing in a trading model and balancing that with success.

It will be a shite trading model though if we win nothing as players that win nothing are worthless. That’s why the tramps can sell average players for big money because they have won loads.

Stick or twist - we’ve definitely twisted.

Imo clement sold the board a 3 year plan to restructure and rebuild the team based on the boards promises, once shit went sideways with ibrox etc and we maybe didnt have as much money as previously thought, the board and clement silently agreed to write this season off and start properly next year, so gave him another year to stick to his 3 year plan

Thats my positive thinking on it

If you consider that, in midfield for example, we’ve lost Jack, Cantwell and Lundstram and brought in Barron and Barjaml, I would consider that a significant upgrade (based on Barjami’s clips tbf) and probably a big saving on wages.

Renegotiating Hagi’s contract is almost like another new signing, again for less outlay.

Turning us around completely in one window was always going to be a monumental task.

Isn’t up to us to decide who to replace them with. It’s the exact same argument as “get rid of the manager aye but who are we replacing him with”. Just because the average fan doesn’t have a list of multi-millionaires ready to go doesn’t mean we don’t change anything.

The board are apparently “businessmen” it’s in their remit to find us suitable replacements not the fans. We have every right to demand change. There are board members who have witnessed 7 league titles and 4 trebles go the other way.

I want them replaced, but just shouting get the board out without any reasonable thoughts on who replaces them is pointless imo.

With the above there is around an £8m-£10m saving in our wage bill.

We've also got rid of wages that sat in the stands and now, hopefully, have players that will contribute over the coming season.

Is the squad good enough to win the league .. likely no.

Should the board be under serious pressure to both accept culpability & provide clarity for the future .. absolutely

We now are where we are until January at the earliest, all we can do is get behind the team & the manager and hope for the best

Think that’s a big part of it. Offloading those that contribute nothing.

Yeh it’s horrible timing as by committing to this route now, the reality is we’re not going to be as competitive (as we could have been) this season.

Should have been done many windows ago and we might have lost one title instead of facing another 4.

Is that how much we have reduced the wage bill? If so then the window isn't as bad as it seems. Might get ripped for this but we probably need to be a bit more understanding as fans that protecting the clubs longevity financially is as important as anything else. Don't get .e wrong, it is still the failings of these shylocks that put us in this position but I'm almost glad we've not chucked money at this that we don't have in a gamble. Hopefully the start of us operating a bit more shrewdly.

How are we weaker than last season?   Who has left us and not been replaced by either equal or better?
