At Brøndby he did not enjoy much success, and only played a single game in the 2001-02 Superliga season, which Brøndby went on to win, although he became well known for his Bellyflop goal celebration, a result of which he was infamously injured.

Concerning, no bloody wonder he's so injury prone with that carry on.

If we are interested in Larsen and get him for £1.4million then we have a real player on our hands. This could be like a Elmander signing. Get him cheap, does well and the big clubs come in for him.

Then again I expect to see him linked and sign for the likes of Bolton.

I think if Smith was looking at anyone at the london derby tonight, it would have been Traore as a possible loan deal, just until Smith is fully recovered. The only other as someone mentioned could be Boateng on loan. I doubt its Djourou, isn't he due to go the African Nations cup?

I think he plays for Switzerland, Pretty sure he played for them in the world cup

I forgot he played for Switzerland thats weird, oh well. Is Traore going to the African Nations then? I heard the commentator tonight say a list of Arsenal players who were going there, but i forget them.

Just thinking there, its gonna be a gut laugh if we sign this Larsen character, and sing his name at an OF derby :harhar:

Can't wait to see there faces! :D

Paul Jewell, the Derby manager, had hoped to have the Northern Ireland goalkeeper at training this morning, but Walter Smith was only willing to sanction the transfer if he had another back-up to Allan McGregor in place.

Does this mean that Walter doesn't rate Graeme Smith? Or is he maybe going out on loan?

Maybe Walter was down South hoping that Paul Robinson would be playing... :craphead:

I really don't think it will have anything to do with Hutton, I think Hutton has made it perfectly clear he doesn't want to join Spurs.

As for Larsen, I would happily take a chance on him, purely for the name. :bouncy:

Smith was a bizarre signing in the first place, not good enough for Kilmarnock, signed by us as back- up before Carroll was signed as back- up. So he is now going to be Bank's back- up.

Reckon Smith was always going to be the third-choice keeper. We need three experienced keepers (or a top-class youngster, which we don't have). If Carroll goes and McGregor gets injured we'd be left with a guy who was second choice at Killie in goals and somebody like Nicky Gallacher on the bench.

I was just waiting on this,

Danish striker Soren Larsen could be heading to the Premiership with Bolton. The Schalke 04 striker has become an international regular and scored several important goals for the Denmark international team, whilst Wolfsburg and Fulham are also interested in signing the hitman.

Linked with everyone!

I think that this player is only 'interesting' all these sides cause his agent is pounding around saying he's available and wants a move - the more people interested the higher the price - the bigger the agent fee and the media is naturally going to pick it up and make whatever story it fancies out of it!!

RANGERS have been offered the opportunity to boost their title hopes by landing Danish international striker Soren Larsen.

The Schalke 04 frontman is available for around £1.4m and his agent, Ivan Marko Benes, is believed to have held talks with Ibrox chief executive Martin Bain to discuss a possible move.

At 6ft 4in, Larsen would seem like an ideal replacement for Daniel Cousin. The French striker has stated his determination to win a move to the Premiership, although Rangers say there have been no approaches.

Bain was presented with a DVD of Larsen's scoring exploits, and it has been passed on to boss Walter Smith.

Larsen has scored six goals in his five internationals for Denmark two years ago and has been nicknamed Die Waffe - The Weapon - after netting 17 goals in 55 starts for the Bundesliga outfit Schalke.

In Germany, he has linked up with countryman and former Ibrox star Peter Lovenkrands, and is well aware of what would await him in Glasgow.

Larsen would cost around £1m-a-year in wages, but his physical style could turn out to be perfect for the demands of Scottish football.

Eintracht Frankfurt, Wolfsburg and FC Copenhagen have already enquired about the 26-year-old - who was linked with Celtic in August 2006 - but Larsen has no intention of returning home to Denmark.

Smith is also keen to land Hearts goalkeeper Steve Banks after agreeing to allow back-up shot-stopper Roy Carroll to join Derby.

It's believed the Ibrox club are prepared to bid £50,000 for Englishman Banks, who has been recommended by Gers goalkeeping coach Jim Stewart, who worked with him at Tynecastle.

Hearts caretaker Steven Frail is reluctant to lose the Englishman, who also doubles as a coach, but moving to Rangers would be more lucrative for him.

Carroll has beren back-up for Allan McGregor and his agent, Francis Martin, said: "Roy has been up in Glasgow on his own and wants to be closer to his family.

"It was a boyhood dream of his to play for Rangers, the team he grew up supporting, and it's a real pity things haven't really worked out."

Derby boss Paul Jewell was hoping to have Carroll this week, but Smith will only sanction the deal if he secures a replacement.

Jewell said: "The chairman has spoken to his agent and Walter Smith and hopefully we can get that one over the line today. If he comes, Roy Carroll is a top-class goalkeeper."

Banks has reclaimed his first-choice status at Tynecastle from Eduardo Kurskis and Anthony Basso.

Smith was at the Carling Cup semi between Arsenal and Spurs last night
