John Lambie

I can remember working on the roof at Whitburn Academy school right next to his house and he gave me the imaginary flute when one Friday I was hanging out the side if the van shouting on "Lambie gies the Sash".

Still don't know if I forgave him for being the Hamilton manager that knocked us out the Scottish Cup on the same day Chris Woods set his shutout record.

But I loved hearing about him giving his captain at thistle dogs abuse for being a TARRIER.

R.I.P. Johnny Lambie.

Was it not him who hit out with the classic when one of his players got knocked out and had concussion. Guy couldn't remember who he was. Lambie told him he was Pele and sent him back on.

Colin McGlashan was the player, Lambie was a character alright, rip.

Sad times.

A true character of Scottish football and was a staunch Bear at heart.

RIP

Never met anyone from Whitburn who wasn’t a Bear.

Whitburn, Armadale, Blackridge, Harthill - they breed ‘em staunch up that way.

Aye.

I love going up that way through North Lanarkshire and West Lothian and seeing Union flags on poles in folks front gardens.
