Popular Post CumbernauldBear 234
As we approach Saturday and the celebrations wherever we all are and whether we may or may not gather, it’s a great time to think back over the season. I wonder: - how many of us were confident back at the start of the season that this would finally be the season we’d see the league coming home? - how many of us would have thought we’d finish the season potentially unbeaten and potentially with over 100 points? - how many of us went into pretty much every game after our fantastic start to the season expecting us to falter? - how many of us until it was mathematically impossible for us to lose the league still panicked at every game? I’ve followed Rangers for about 40 years and have seen some real highs (9 in a row, Manchester, etc) and some real lows (let’s not mention them) but this season has been one of the best I’ve ever experienced and I honestly believe that Gerrard is building something special. It’ll be different from the Gascogne, Laudrup, DeBoer, etc years but seeing how we’ve improved over the last 3 years is incredible and if that continues then who knows where it could take us. This weekend is a time to celebrate the end of the beginning of our journey. Let’s look forward to the next part of the trip. As fans, we need to show patience and understanding on the days when things don’t go out way but more importantly we need to support and drive the team forward when Ibrox is back, full and bouncing. bluenoz 30,836
Tbh, I was confident we would win the league this year. Maybe it was bias, blind hope. I certainly did not think we were on the cusp of going an entire season undefeated (touch wood) or we would win it by March 7th. cascadeshrimp
.Williamson. 82,206
Shame how it’s to be celebrated. Popular Post ElBufalo20 7,892
Knew after the first game against them we’d win the league at a canter. Pretty sure I said it then and consistently did throughout the season. A great team effort from management to the whole squad. Right from the start McLaughlin filling in has been superb. At the back Tavernier been sensational but Patterson stepped up when needed Balogun and Helander stepped up even Bassey did well when he covered for Barisic in the early part. Kamara and Davis been consistent from day 1 but every midfielder has contributed when maybe someone else form has dipped. Kent started the season on fire then his form dipped but Roofe and Morelos stepped up during that period. Hagi too produced important goals in 1-0 wins over Hibs and St Johnstone. Even someone like Itten who still has room to develop turned the game round at home to Motherwell and also the late equaliser at Fir Park kept us unbeaten. We have been superb and everyone of those players deserves our thanks for what they achieved this season. theredhandofNewcastle, CumbernauldBear, Nk89 and 6 others
Leftpegcoopz11 4,732
This season has surpassed everything and anything I imagined! From after New year last year, and they cunts getting handed a title I didn't know. Booked my holidays in work July/August last year for right now and next week, so I was quite confident we would do it, and the team didn't let us down. Happy days! kanjo
BlueKnight87 17,286
I went into this season thinking we win the league, it was going to go down to the wire. Last day of the season stuff. What we've done has been incredible. Clean sheet record, earliest league win and the chance to now finish it off invincible before captain tav lifts the trophy in the air. Its going to be some moment finally seeing that trophy home where it belongs. slimjim1690 and Nk89
Popular Post slimjim1690 4,534
I've seen a few of these type of threads pop up recently but I've never commented in them simply because I don't think it's possible for me to adequately put into words that are capable of expressing the overwhelming joy that this season has meant to me. Being 66yrs old I've seen everything following this great institution, all the highs and all of the lows but I can honestly say that winning the league this season has been the pinnacle for me, there has never been anything in our clubs illustrious history to compare with the journey we have overcome in the last decade, there are simply no words that can justify explaining the pride I feel at this momentous point in our history and make no mistake this is a momentous achievement. At the start of the season I did think that we could mount a serious challenge but if I'm being honest I had a feeling that we might just not have enough, but as November progressed into December I couldn't believe what I was witnessing and I thought to myself if we can get through January unscathed I'm going to allow myself to believe, but when February arrived I was still a bag of nerves, [we'd seen it all before] When the day finally arrived against St Mirren watching the scenes outside Ibrox that's when it hit me, watching our support genuinely brought tears to my eyes I was a blubbering mess, lots of thoughts were racing through my mind, thinking of my brother and brother-in-law and all my friends back home and what they've had to put up with these last 10yrs, it was bad enough watching it unfold from 6000 miles away, I can't begin to imagine what it was like for you guys in the thick of it, I thought of all the young supporters who would probably be to young to remember fully what it was like to see us win something, and then to see the Gaffer and the players celebrate in the dressing room was just yeeeeesssss. I'd also like to take a moment to thank Dave King and all the other members of the board for sticking with it and putting their hands in their pockets and for getting our club back into relatively calm waters, only you will know how close it came to disaster I'm not going to get into the laughter that lot gave us this season, fuck them it's not about them, it's all about The Rangers. fergiebubs, BridgeIsBlue, MonTheGers and 10 others
Madina 3,812
I thought it would go down to the wire. Sometimes I think pipping them to it on the last day of the season would have been sweeter, but I certainly cant complain about how we won it. Just wish we could have been there to witness it. A bit anticlimactic because of that but I'm sure Saturday will be like old times
peter huistra 1,740
After the pre season games in France I had a good feeling, we looked sharp and very organised then beating Aberdeen away was the best start only after the livi and hibs games did I think we might not do it. Last summer I was worried about the partnership of Goldson and Helander and thought we needed someone more pacey and we did sign Balogun who's been excellent when called on but the other two have been unbelievably good, that whole back 4 plus the keeper have been just sublime the tactics from the manager and Beale this season have been spot on. ZZed 4,510
At the start of the season, I hoped for the best but feared another New Year drop in form and it going wrong for us. The team have more than lived up to my hopes and this season feels so special.
hammer93 15,057
The pre season was decent and I enjoyed the way Kent, Morelos, Hagi & Aribo all linked up swapping positions, it was then I felt we would have more going forward than the previous campaign, but key was the defence, we shipped too many goals to individual errors last season which ultimately led to us dropping points.....I started to believe when we kept keeping clean sheets, we stopped leaking easy goals which contributed to 3pts more often than not....it turned out to be the perfect storm for a perfect league campaign
superallysbears 7,583
I remember when we we're making our way back up just how long it seemed to take, every season that passed, fuck me it was a slog, then we get up and I'm at Ibrox for us against Hamilton thinking fucking yassssssss going for #55, we drew that game and as we all know it's taken even more time to get here, but at least we we're true to our word when we sang' the Lisbon lions won't see ten in a row! By fuck it's been emotional but absolutely vital, we are and always have been Scotland's premier club, suck it in lurker's we are back bigger better and stronger than before!! 🇬🇧👌#56 theredhandofNewcastle
VanVeenRangers 2,535
Because of scar tissue, i expected us to dip in form when it came to early 2021. When we were giving them all the ball and chances on the 2nd of Jan first half, i was thinking if we lose we will start to go off the boil. But we won and that game changed everything. Killie away was a big one for us but the biggest prior to xmas was Motherwell at home. At 1-0 down i couldn't see us coming back. Then we got some magic from Itten and Roofe. January 2nd at full time onwards has been so enjoyable even through covid. Overall it's a season never to forget and it's been amazing to watch these players grow in 3 years. The scar tissue is gone and i no longer have the fear for league games. I'm very confident we will win next season and enter the Champions League. G.E.C. 18,769
When we drew at Livi and Hibs at the start of the season I was thinking it’s going to be one of those seasons again where we drop points in crucial games. However after winning 1-0 at Rugby Park a few weeks after the first Old Firm I started to believe and never had any doubts since. Broxi 11,484
For me: 15 hours ago, CumbernauldBear said: - how many of us were confident back at the start of the season that this would finally be the season we’d see the league coming home? Not impossible but unlikely. We were in a situation where we'd never have been favourites for a title until we had already won one again - how many of us would have thought we’d finish the season potentially unbeaten and potentially with over 100 points? No chance - how many of us went into pretty much every game after our fantastic start to the season expecting us to falter? Not really, been confident since around November, wasn't expecting the 2nd half of season collapse that others did but it was always possible - how many of us until it was mathematically impossible for us to lose the league still panicked at every game? I considered it sewn up after the January Old Firm game, realistically is was already won before that. CumbernauldBear
MacBoyd 5,438
I wasn't, thought we needed a goalscoring midfielder and top finisher. Also had doubts about the bottle and thought the scars may be too much to overcome. Thankfully I was totally wrong.
Dennis Reynolds 1,329
We fucked it last year TBH, it was there for us. Was always an element of shit or bust to this season - if we could (have) impose our total control we show in Europe we would win if we turned into the weirdos we became after beating celtic last year we wouldn’t Don’t do to Dubai But aye it’s quite easily the most meaningful title I’ve seen us win, 8,9, Helicopter Sunday v 1 and 2 and 2010/11 were great but this is another level even to them.
