To me that line up reads like Gio wants to see these players in a competitive environment so he can assess who may or may not have a future at the club. 

We know most of them don't as starters, but the boss needs to make his own mind up. If they don't show up tonight, to me they are gone.

I do agree, but at the same time I wouldn't fancy him being shoehorned in at LB.
