terry739 reacted to govanblue in Rest In Peace Dinger Bell - Erskine Veteran, Bear, Legend
It is with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of Legendary Erskine Bear - Dinger Bell.
Dinger was a Resident in Erskine Bishopton Veterans Care Home for many years and was known and loved by everyone there. He was also very popular here on RangersMedia, and his photos often popped up in our Erskine threads, cheering us all up over the last 10 years, when we were so often down. The passion and pride that Dinger had for all things Rangers was an inspiration to us all.
Dinger was always a very popular face around Ibrox, and was always more than happy to represent Erskine at Ibrox whenever called upon, which was often! He served as a great ambassador for both Erskine and Rangers for many years, and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
Rest In Peace Dinger, and thanks for the memories.

As much as I love them and appreciate what they've done for us neither Tav, Kent or Goldson improve the England team.
I'm glad they're not invited to stupid training squads or anything like that. We need Tav & Kent (if still here) nice and fresh for the CL qualifiers.

He's been a great servant and provided great value for money. His ability to be avaliable and play in so many games is huge. He brings leadership and despite being prone to mistakes, like ever other footballer, he will be a big miss if he leaves.
I would much rather he stayed. I'd be delighted if he stayed. However everyone is replaceable. The big concern is losing a key component of a settled back line, that familiarity which could be ripped up entirely. With the exception of Tav, we could be missing possibly 4 of our favoured back 5. Equally there's still an outside chance we could still have 3/4 of the back 5 in place.
We've seen with Lundstram, Bassey and many others it can take time to settle with us. Unfortunately when we return we're straight in at the deep end with the prospect of a very different back 5. Any business we do really needs to be done ASAP.

I fucking love Tav. He's absolutely one of us. A Rangers legend now in my eyes.

I love Tav.
Way more ups than downs, but a good cunt above all. Clearly loves us back, despite being on the receiving end of some shite at times.
On yersel son.

Looking forward to him getting started. Just one point though - I really hope he can deliver the volume of games that Goldson and Tav do. We have had our fair share of injury prone players over the last 4 years.

The way he’s handled himself mentally ever since signing the pre contract deserves a lot credit as well.

Thought he was good on weds and today when he came on added a bit of directness we were missing. Think he will come good for us.

And Bassey should have done better as well.
In saying that, Goldson is definitely more at fault. Strikers get in front of their man all the time - can be hard to defend against.
Letting the ball run across goal when you have the chance to clear it is unforgivable though. Ridiculous decision.

Bassey became a Man last night. He filled his jersey to the maximum and has set a standard for himself. Goldson turning around and roaring at someone after their goal when it had just run across his toes is exactly why I can't be arsed with Goldson. He has the quality and athleticism to be a solid stopper but he goes into these crazy wee mental rabbit holes where he switches off. He also needs to stop with the Maldini diagonals.
However, this thread is about Bassey.
That man mountain should get GVB's full attention. He is an out and out asset. He played like a Lion last night.

Maybe Bassey could have done better but Goldson got caught in two minds and ended up just letting the ball come in. You could see his brain working. Goldson was definitely at fault. Was he the only player at fault? No

As the dust settles, what a journey we came up short by 1 kick off a ball even when we were no where near our best
We’re feared in Europe once again bring on the champions league qualifiers
Give Gio the summer to freshen this squad up & let’s see where we go
Glasgow Rangers will always live on

This team/this Euro campaign will go down in history as one of our best ever....taking into consideration some of the sides we destroyed. Some of the nights at Ibrox will live with me forever.
The players deserve enormous credit, and will be hurting just as much as we are. Anyone who doesn't think that is kidding themselves.
Thank you Rangers, what a rollercoaster this has been!

The way we lost it was so cruel it will take a while to really process it. Overall agree though. I fucking love this team, they brought back the club as we know it. Fear i’ll go to my grave wondering why Gio brought Ramsey on for only a penalty though.

Slight issue that he plays for Nigeria, but other than that, good point!
