Nicky Clark - What's His Future?

Recommended Posts

Do you think we should look to move him on this Summer, or give him another year to see if can can come good?

Although a bit dissapointing, 9 goals in 24 isn't that bad for a player who was in and out of the side and missed a decent chunk of the season through injury. You also have to consider that not everybody will blend in straight away (in recent history you can look at paysmith as an example of that) there's been a number of players over the years who's form has improved hugely after they get a season to bed in find their feet and that's guys who have come from far bigger clubs than QOTS are.

Personally speaking I think he deserves another season before we make a real decision on him as a player, but even if he does hang around is he going to get enough opportunities to prove himself because he could potentially be fourth choice behind Miller, Boyd & Daly?

There isn't a question, here.

Clark's future will be what he makes of it and being honest, he didn't make much of an impact this season, even when he started. He has time, though.

If Miller and Boyd arrive, it'll add competition; healthy competition. Some of the world's best strikers have fought off more experience competition; Benzema versus Fred, Muller versus Pizzarro.

His career is not ruinined by the potential arrival of a seasoned pro.

He hasn't really had a proper chance. Compare to Daly who finished most games even when not really doing too much.

We need to coach our players to bring the best out of them. I don't know what they currently do in training, but it seems to be making them worse not better.

He's young and has a lot of potential. Long balls up to him aren't much use but playing attacking football with another decent striker up front with him and he'll definitely be one for the future.

I like him, think his movement and work rate at times is class and think he could be a good goal scorer for us if he gets a regular run in the team.

Injuries and being in and out of the side won't have helped his confidence and neither will the pressure of feeling like he had to bang in another 40 goals this season but I really believe he'll come good for us.
