The former Celtic boss signed a two year contract to succeed Alan Stubbs who moved to Rotherham United - after he arrived at Hibs' training ground tonight. The Northern Irishman's assistant will be Garry Parker who was his No 2 at Bolton. Hibs chairman Rod Petrie said: “We are delighted to have secured a Head Coach of Neil’s calibre and profile, and we look forward to him bringing his drive and mentality to our campaign to win the Championship this season and secure promotion back to the top flight of Scottish football.” Lennon had a meeting with Easter Road chief executive Leeann Dempster to thrash out the remaining details on his contract but there are no major stumbling blocks to be overcome. Ms Dempster added: “As soon as Neil was identified as the outstanding candidate we were determined to bring him to Easter Road. "He has managed at a very high level, taking Celtic to the last 16 of the Champions League, and we were attracted by his ability to get the most out of players and his driven, winning mentality. "On behalf of everyone at Hibernian FC we would like to extend a warm welcome to both Neil and Garry." Lennon - who is expected to be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday - has turned down a lucrative move to China to kick-start his career back in Scotland. He left his last job in charge of Bolton in March, with the team rooted to the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship. He took over at the Macron Stadium in October 2014 with ambitions to return the team to England's top-flight - only to discover four weeks into his Trotters tenure the club was sinking under crippling debts. Hibs fans gave Lennon a big welcome. The Hibs.net website said the signing was a 'big statement of intent' for the Scottish Cup winners.
