I would say you are correct mate. The Champions League might subsidise things a bit next year, but that in absolutely no way is guaranteed, and even then its likely to only be a one off every few years.

Massive re signing if true. I can't even begin to imagine what he is worth in two years time if he keeps progressing.

The club obviously know the financial structure better than any of us and didn't feel a need to sell him.

Eventually we will have to sell but at the moment the market is depressed. Better to hang on than accept fire sale prices.

However bad our financial position will look when the next results are published we are in a much better place than Barcelona.

Can't take anything the sun says seriously so I shall wait for the club to say something. Mind you I hope it's true.

Hopefully this does happen. It means any bid now can be closer to £20m than £10m and we can maximise his transfer value. 

I’d like to keep him for another year though. The league this season is critical.

He’s done well in the Europa League, impressed at the Euros and been a key player in an undefeated title winning side.

Needs to play in the Champions League next season or he’s hit a ceiling in terms of what his potential transfer value with us will be tbh.
