Thermopylae 15,287 Posted August 25, 2022 Share Posted August 25, 2022 Needless to say Gio's mark was all over last nights side but it's also fair to say that where we’ve been in the last few years, building up our strength in Europe, that quality stood out a mile in the second legs of the 2 qualifying rounds this season. I always remember Andy Haliday saying the first thing Gerrard said to the players the day he arrived was that the standards in Europe have been unacceptable and we will be expected to go beyond the group stages every season now. Took us as far as he could, got the club 5m comp and Gio took it to the next level. The level of consistency and results we have been achieving since SG came and GVB continued is the exception, not the rule.
