Lammers

To me he looks like he's a player who could do well when we're camped around a team's box or dominating a final 3rd. A bit like Hagi.

But when most of our possession is with our CHs he's not got the speed.or guile to influence. And when you lack those you need physicality which he doesn't have.

Imo he'll play more regularly at Ibrox than away from home.

Poor yesterday but with the exception of Butland he’s probably the only new signing that’s looked anything close to decent so far.

I have been impressed with Dowell but wasn't his best performance yesterday. However when he was subbed we practically stopped winning the ball back at all in midfield and looked more vulnerable to the counter attack.

I’d agree with that actually, I’ve probably been harsh on Dowell there he’s also looked decent in preseason.

He was terrible yesterday but was one of the few who looked ok in pre season

We have an enormous issue in the middle of the park behind the strikers (no.10 position in the hole)

I thought he was going to fill that - if he is then he needs to stay more central this floating all over the park won’t work and leaves the main striker isolated and there’s no linking of the play hence everything goes backwards….

He has more urgency in his pinky toes than alundstum has in both legs. Was a strange substitution imo

I think at best he'll be like that trampy bastard McCourt the scum had who used to come on when they were 3 or 4 goals up and waltz through a knackered defence looking like a world beater.

Mentally he looks like another Barisic who's going to shite it at the first sign of a physical battle, I wasn't convinced he would suit us when we were first linked with him and I'm even less convinced now.

Trying not to be too harsh because yesterday was mostly down to a shite formation and unfamiliarity between the players.

I don’t know what Beale is thinking. But unless you are Messi what are you going to do surrounded by 4 guys in the middle of the park.

You can’t just pack the middle of the park against 10 men. It’s hard enough to break them down without essentially cutting the width of the pitch in half.

Width and pace badly needed

Looks every inch a striker who had a shit goalscoring record so we’re trying to make him into a ‘10’ instead of buying an actual 10.

Not the first time we’ve done this either.

Hagi can play a 10. Camtwell was thriving as the CAM and often occupied that area of the pitch. Fuck even Lowry could have done a job in there.

Instead we've invested in a guy who might be able to cover both roles, but do neither as well as we need from specialists in those roles.

And he looks paceless which is not good for an apparent high press team 🙄

What's worse is that he's the least of the worries out of the outfield new signings.

I think his substitutions are always poor mate. No imagination behind them whatsoever it’s almost always like for like and never a positive change.

We have a big problem tactically…. Dropping a midfielder (Lundstram) into a back 3 really fucks us up. It prevents the other 2  midfielders pushing to far up the pitch to join in with the strikers.
if he actually stayed as the midfield holder, the other 2 can push forward more…

This is not all Lundstrams fault, it’s clearly a tactic used to try to get the full backs forward, but they are pish

Let's face it.

We were all a bit concerned when Sima, Dessers and Lammers were linked. Not one of them had the sort of scoring/assist stats to get excited about.

So far, we were right to have concerns.

Slavia Sima was exciting but Stoke should have been a red flag

Most of the players were shite in pre season so it didn't really take much for him to standout. His record with the exception of 1 season is shocking and we somehow thought it would be a good idea to spend 3.5 million on him.

I’ll give him more time despite similar reservations about his pace and guile.

But you can’t be spending what we spent on him as our main creative player and then accept he won’t perform away from home.

It’s one competitive game so too early to make any fixed judgements, but anyone who raised eyebrows at the handful of “if we get him back to how he was playing 2, 3, 4 years ago” signings was crucified on here.

I understand why we had to make one or two of those, you can’t sign them when they’re going for >£10 million or when we’re up against someone like Brighton. But to expect them all to hit the ground running and not take time to get up to speed was a long shot.

If they don’t show signs of improvement quickly Beale is utterly fucked.
