When Beale inevitably gets sacked, be it this month or sometime in the next 3-4 months after we drift further behind in the league, we need to stop penny pinching on managers.

For too long, we’ve hired managers because they’re out of work, unproven, coming out of the wilderness in some backwater, but most of all because they’re cheap.

We spend so much money on transfer fees on mediocre talent, because we don’t have a clue how to develop existing talent or a clear plan on how we’re going to break down sides, which is 99% of our domestic game.

Stop penny pinching on managerial hires and let’s attract a better quality of manager. Accept it may mean a slight reduction on the transfer budgets, but we’re not spending that well regardless.

Get a decent DOF in who can make sure we are bringing in the best talent from youth academy level up to first team, allow the manager to focus on improving what we have and making us a domestic force again.

Well said.

10 times the manager.

I don't want him but he'd be a massive upgrade on Beale.

There’s no way McInnes should be our manager, but he has bags more experience and comparative success than Beale.

Think how many times we dropped points or went out of cups to the sheep under Gerrard, Gio and Beale.

Must be half a dozen times at least.

Who was braga manager when we beat them the first time? I remember reading good things about him at the time unsure how he's progressed

Think he’s at sporting Lisbon these days?

Ruben Amorin, they paid about €10million for him for Braga so a bit beyond our price bracket!

Gio dropped 2 pts to the sheep without mccinnes being there, and won the only cup he could

Just sayin..... :boughy:

I think a lot of people seem to think replacing Gio with Beale was cheap.

Getting rid of Gio and his staff cost about £3.5m and bringing in Beale would have been another £2m+. He had just signed a 3 year contract.

What should we be spending to get a manager in? £5m? £10m?

I see your point, but I’d argue that changing Gio for someone with a worse pedigree (who hadn’t exactly been successful domestically the first time around over the course), was money down the drain.

Because we penny pinched and went to back to “the brains behind 55” *cringe*, we’ve spent the guts of £5million on downgrading a manager and will need to pay out even more to sack Beale and co when the time comes.

Club needs to be decisive and stop doing managerial hires on the cheap. Hire an experienced coach with a clear attacking philosophy who has managed in multiple countries like a Favre (or similar).

We could’ve attracted the likes of him or Petr Bosz when we sacked Gio and it would’ve cost us the same as hiring then firing Beale and co, plus we’d be in a much stronger place than we are now.

Beale was probably the only one willing to come mid season and the board made a cunt of it as usual

Beale was the only manager in world football who fancied managing a side who’d been in a European final 6 months previous and had a chance of silverware that season and could mould a squad to be their own in the summer? Really?

Or look at it this way, a team with barely any assets, few of them out of contract that summer, out of the league, out of europe and against a runaway juggernaut of a tarrier team
