Strange game from Dessers today, thought he did well 1st half and involved in both goals.

2nd half didn’t hold up as well, benefit of the doubt on the offside goals as they were very tight but he does get caught offside too much generally and gives away too many cheap fouls rather than using his own physical presence to win fouls.

Shankland has 2 assists to his name this season.

Dessers has had 2 in the last 2 games.

Shankland is the best striker in the league currently. Of course he'd be the answer for us right now.

If he'd came through the youth ranks or was a cheap 3rd choice that, due to circumstances, found himself as a starter then you'd be OK(ish) with him.

He cost us roughly 4m and will be lapping up 20k+ a week.

Get him too fuck asap when at his age he still has some sort of value.

He’s on a par with Dessers in terms of contributing to his teams goal tally when assessed on their time on the pitch this season.

It’s mental that folk can’t work it out for themselves and need led by the hand.

How can one be shite and the other the best in the league when they have an identical goal contribution per time.

Seems to me you’re blinded by a nice and shinny ‘goals scored’ tally and don’t give a minutes thought to actual time on pitch, assists etc.

You’ve pulled assists out of thin air, when it wasn’t the issue or what we’re talking about. The issue is goal return or in comparison to shankland. He’s a striker. His job is to score goals. The wingers and number 10  I look to more for assists and contributions.

OK, lets ignore his assists.

Dressers is statistically more accurate (70.95%) by 45% (Shankland is 48.78%), which you’ll not be interested anyway, and they have a near identical conversion rates (Dessers 19.4% v’s  Shankland (19.5%)

So if Dessers has a better conversion rate yet has scored less it points to Rangers playing teams who low block, then what’s to say Shankland will do better in that scenario?

if he’s available 1-1.5m then OK but paying 3-4m for a guy to replace a ‘dud’ who cost 4m when pro rata both are on a par in terms of their goal contributions is lunacy.

I've just fkn given up trying to make sense of Dessers man. That goal away to Betis was filthier than a miner's boot, and but for two close offside calls today we would have put away two very tidy finishes. 

Most of the time though he looks like he's actively trying not to score.
