Jon Flanagan

He's a steady defender when he concentrates on his job. Probably doesn't deserve to lose his place at the weekend as Barisic has been pretty poor thus far, but a nice luxury to be able to rotate the two depending on how we want to set up against different opponents.

Before the match the manager highlighted Flanagan was in to do a job on their best player.

Ivan was subbed on the hour mark after, barring one shocking offside decision, contributing absolutely nothing. The whole team was excellent tonight, but I thought Flanagan did a great job down that side. He linked up well with Kent all night, especially second half.

Good decision from Gerrard to play him and a great performance from him.

Still never played in a losing side for us

I like Flanno very much

This... I think he will be underrated by our support but he gives everything and is much more defense focused than our other fullbacks, whilst still getting up and down the pitch.

Actually feel more confident when he plays. I think barasic and tab are prone to switching off.

A steal of a signing on a free

Got to be Flanagan all away games and all big games at home , play the Croat Hamilton home etc , Flanagan miles ahead of him

I've not been impressed with Barasic so far but he is full Croatian international, he must have more than he's been able to show so far. I don't think we should give up on him after 3 or 4 games.

Flanagan excellent tonight, looked sharp and aggressive right from the start and much better distribution than previous games.
