And yet we looked so lively against RM. Granted only a friendly but still looked sharp as a malky. Just so bloody frustrating going from that to this turgid shite.

Their first pre season match with a number of players out. Tranmere defeat didn’t count yet the win over Madrid was met with joys. We’ve regressed since then. A shadow of ourselves. Barely troubling keepers, not a bit of creativity sight and our build up play is so predictable. Out wide & into the keepers arms

And? Its another year. What we gonna live off the glory of a title win and two gutless exits out of the cups?

We should have been refreshing and investing in the squad, that contract money for davis should have been used to offer kamara (our best midfielder by far) a bumper deal and build the team around him.

So how can you blame a manager for sticking with what worked last season? Hindsight is a great thing but literally every manager would’ve stuck with Davis and Tavernier

McCann would take Hagi off. Fuck me, I thought he was the only decent player (and Bassey).

Davis does look like he may have lost a step. Not his fault, father time always wins.

To be fair, I don’t think McCann’s point was that Hagi was playing poorly; just about what he offers when we’re a man down.

Too many think they have done their job last season and they just have to turn up now.

The mindset is fucked we need someone in the mould of Barry Ferguson or Richard Gough, not in terms of ability although that would be brilliant, but rather in terms of leadership. Guys who would kick arses and pin players against the wall in the dressing room. We have no-one even close to that.

SG should invite the likes of Ian Ferguson and Bomber into the dressing room to hammer into this lot what it means to play for this club.

I think Gerrard is escaping criticism here a bit too. We've never worked on another style or tactic to test the opposition. It's constantly playing the ball out wide and hitting crosses in. The shape is needing some updating.

Mate.. this season looks a very different style and tactic. VERY different.

433 vs malmo, united, malmo, turgid one dimensional pish

4231 vs dunfermline, dynamic, flowing, interchangeable football in the final 3rd

433 tonight, turgid one dimensional pish

Cant see a link at all here, none whatsoever

It shows how one player who does not fit the system can disrupt tempo and shape.Recruitment this year has been strange; Simpson 5th choice in a relegated team who could not defend and the lumbering oaf who sold tackles and gave the ball away all last season both given 4 year deals.
