***** The Official RB Leipzig v Rangers (Opposition) Europa League Semi Final Match Thread *****

Recommended Posts

starting to sink in. fuck sake it's going to be a long few days.

i think we can do it. we were never meant to beat Dortmund. if we can pump them we can do Leipzig too. do that and hopefully Frankfurt get through. any game at this point will be tough but would fancy our chances more against Frankfurt. Would love to see us play West Ham but would much rather us have a better chance winning.

i'm confident but cautious. feels like i'm dreaming. just need to hope for the best and see what happens. it's up to Gio and the players now. They can become legends at this club and their names will be remembered for decades. Step up and play Rangers.

Shades of the 2008 semis against Fiorentina when we had a shit load of injuries and suspensions.

Naismith, McGregor, Burke,  McCulloch, Adam, Beasley, Ferguson and Thomson were all missing from the first leg. Basically our whole midfield from the previous rounds minus Hemdani was out.

Forgot how depleted our midfield/team was that night:

Alexander, Broadfoot, Weir, Cuellar, Papac, Novo (Buffel 59), Whittaker, Hemdani, Dailly, Davis, Darcheville (Cousin 59).
Subs Not Used: Graeme Smith, Boyd, Gow, Webster, Faye.

Wild

Wow. Speaks volumes about Walter’s ability to organise a defensive unit.

One of the greatest football minds this country has ever produced.

His ability to get the best out of ‘limited’ players is akin to Sir Alex Ferguson’s approach at Man Utd.

Its surreal watching back clips of Kirk Broadfoot that season. You’d never think that was the same player that played the rest of his career at Blackpool, Rotherham, Kilmarnock etc
