Luckily he was a proper defender with superb positional sense, great in the tackle and excellent in the air (in both boxes) but aye, he couldn’t pass a ball The fact he wasn’t great at passing is practically irrelevant for a centre half: I’d take a central defender that can defend every day of the week.
