Sakala was offside on Morelos goal. I saw that in open play.

That image is just as Sakala's crossing it for Alfie - a player cannot be offside if they are behind the ball when it is played to them so Alfie's onside. Not sure if Sakala was on or off when the ball was played to him though but that's clearly not what they were checking for.

That's the Var still image from Sportscene, the sheep player's arm is highlighted as playing Sakala onside.

You reckon we're getting that goal without Var.

The ball's at Sakala's feet in that picture - if they were checking for Sakala being offside it would have been when the ball was passed to him, not when he receives it.

I dont think anyone knows the handball rules now!

There will be no penalty if:

the ball touches a player's hand/arm immediately from their own head/body/foot or the head/body/foot of another player.

the ball touches a player's hand/arm close to their body and has not made their silhouette unnaturally bigger.

a player is falling and the ball touches their hand/arm when it is between their body and the ground (but not extended to make the body bigger).

additionally, should the goalkeeper attempt to clear a ball from a teammate but fails, the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball.

So you're basically saying that the referee, the VAR referee and Jim Goodman don't know the handball rules but you do?

Or to do mean nobody in the world understands the handball rule except you?

There is a clear difference between the handball if it just ricochets up onto his arm, no pen  however the sheep player scoops the ball away, he plays the ball with his hand. Defo pen.

Doesn’t seem like this red was overturned by VAR so on that basis iv seen enough of it in Scotland

VAR can’t overturn decisions. They can suggest to the ref that they’ve got it wrong and should look again at it but they have literally zero power to overturn the referees decision.

Would need another angle but looks a red to me.

Thought VAR was good yesterday, if a little slow.

Yeah, both offsides were close calls. The penalty could have been given a bit quicker, but I thought there was a chance we wouldn't get it because it kicked up off his knee or thigh before hitting his hand.

We know the rule. You are a fucking idiot. You’re not allowed to deliberately handle the ball just because it has hit your body.

I'm saying that there is a clause in the rule that makes the decision not as clear cut as it seems.

I think there was a far more blatant penalty not given when Colak is dragged to the ground earlier in the game.
