Popular Post stuart1994 4,307
Really staring to like this pairing at the back, could easily argue a lot of our bother pre Beale was down to having little to no consistency at centre back. But these two complement each other so well. Always been a fan of Goldson but really starting to like Davies, does his job and does it well. Can imagine they’ll be a bit of a facelift in the summer. But feel like centre back is a position for depth rather than a need for a big upgrade. A ready made partnership for next season. Essandoh 21,224
He’s very good on the ball but Davies’ reading of the game is really impressive.
Popular Post .Williamson. 82,714
Aye think they’re doing well together. My only concern at the back just now is with the goalkeeper. We need a new one STEPPS BOY, J-Maestro, Malkytfp1 and 2 others
The Specky Forum Organiser 65,138
Agreed, hoping Davies has a commanding performance against a big man soon though to put that slight doubt to bed though. scottyc06 6,915
Back four as a whole have been settled since Beale came in! Borna’s up there with the best crossers of a ball you’ll see but reckon that’s the only one that could possibly be changed.
Kylegib 516
Showing they'll be a decent partnership at the back my only concern is Davies needs to be more commanding in the air. Bad Robot
Jimfanciesthedude 24,611
Always felt goldson looked and seemed more settled with a centre half that was more defensive and allowed him to be the ball player and the more attacking of them both, to me helander suited goldson more than balogun Davies compliments goldson because he's just there and quietly does the job allowing goldson to flourish bluenoz, WWTC, Ayrshire Blue and 1 other
WWTC 2,247
Davies is still taking time to adjust to our game but the guys a good player, despite the odd fuck up.
bluenoz 30,971
Tbh, I was sold on Davies about a month ago. His positional sense is brilliant, and it's freeing up Goldson to ping some really good long balls. Jimfanciesthedude and AGM_72
SIRB_72 4,003
Started to get a real bit of consistency there. Since Ross County we now have 6 clean sheets in 9 and conceded only 4. The most promising thing is we're giving very little up! graeme_4

Most attacks that result in efforts on goal etc seem to come from our fullbacks, when they go forward our midfield are still struggling to cover them, few times hearts managed to get down the flanks with simple balls into the channels, Its how beales system works but we defo need to cover a bit quicker or stop the passes at their source a bit quicker, shanklands miss tonight came from a ball into bornas slot but it was almost the full pitch the pass was able to drop into, Bad Robot and Negri's lovechild

MrMckee 3,424
Looking good so far and the goals we have conceded of late seem to be the full backs at fault from what I can remember. Big improvement anyway.

Injury prone-ness, ability in the air, not the strongest, consistency. I'm not saying he is shite, far from it, but I just don't rate him enough to be our main centre back. Prso's headband 35,598
I think Davies ability in the air is a myth tbh. Ever since it was mentioned on here as a problem I’ve tried to watch how many he wins in a game and it’s well above what I’d expect for a player deemed poor in ariel duels. He’s excellent on the ball, knows where to be 95% of the time and also covers quite well for Borna too. I’m hoping we can get a run of 15-20 games with these 2 at the back then go from there, he seems to be over whatever injury niggles he had as well. beararse

I've not kept a proper look out at set pieces, but in open play I think he's been fine in aerial duels since Beale came in. Reads the game very well.
