He's scored in 1 of his last 8 internationals. He scored 11 league goals in 100 games for QotS in the Scottish Championship. What makes anyone think he is suddenly going to start scoring 20+ league goals for us a season? Dykes is a target man who holds up the ball and links play, that's not the type of player we need. We had that link up player in Morelos and the biggest criticism of him was he didn't score enough goals domestically. Dykes would be the same. We need a mobile goalscorer with a bit of pace. Agree with the last sentence but not about the rest of the post. He's more often than not very dangerous when he comes off the bench. Not just that but he injects fresh energy in to the rest of the team if we have been struggling in a game. Not every player needs to be a starter and the idea that we can have every player competing for a jersey week in week out is just fantasy stuff. Bench should be for guys who are competing for a first team place, signings with potential-cheap hit/miss type, loan with option to buy and young players like Lowry coming through. You sort of want a mix of those 4. There’s not a world where we should be relying on a 35yr old Arfield when we already have Lawrence, Lowry and Hagi not playing at the moment for that role. Especially when Beale doesn’t seem to want to play him. He’s played 50 minutes in our last 10 league matches. And only going to be less when Lawrence is back and Lowry playing more Would prefer we let him leave and took a punt on a youngster that the scouting team have identified. His job is for the ball to be lumped up to him, keep hold of it and wait for support to come. He wouldn't play like that for Rangers so it's hard to say what he would be like for us. It's a similar reason as to why I didn't want Dyche as manager - he spent 80% of his career playing boring defensive football, why would he suddenly play exciting attacking football at us? McGgregor, Helander, Davies, Arfield, Morelos, Kamara and Wright are the players I'd expect to be almost definetely away. Would happily see the likes of Davies, Lundstram, Hagi, Barisic or Yilmaz gone too for whatever we could get.
