MillerTimeDavie 123
Rip it up and start again. That's what will happen next Summer, if we can afford it because this squad is mince

Not to excuse the piss poor signings, but to convince any player outwith scotland to come here probably takes a lot more wages than it does to convince them to play in holland Weather, location, standard of opposition, rest of Europe perception of league etc Put it this way, if us and PSV both chased the same out of contract player, and offered the exact same terms, right down to the penny in bonuses etc, 99 times out of 100 the player will choose psv lewislaudrup, OrangeRab, HG5 and 7 others

Popular Post Clemdog 39,389
Finally get rid of Wilson after years of poor signings, to then hand a monumental amount of money to an inexperienced Manager. We did the same with Pedro. If you're going to gift millions to a Manager, at least know you've invested in a winner. CR3 12,690
Danilo not being the main striker with the 6 million pound outlay and not starting against Ross County there is a bit of a shocker, while I’d probably have Roofe play Sunday. Clearly not settled in well yet? @GabrielTomato @psb07158
docspiderman 1,228
PSV paid 27 million euros for 2 players. The Dutch tv money is 6 times more than that for SPFL. Loan players from Barca and Bayern. However, they recruit so much better with a type and style in mind to suit their system while we seem to recruit from a narrow field every season, Belgian league last year Dutch this tear with no seeming strategy in mind. Somemightsay7 2,408
We have about 30 first team players. We were told last season our squad was too big and we had to reduce it. Our squads bigger now than it was at the end of last season. KeyserSoze, Gman36 and BlueAvenger

Not the point though, Any player coming here from outwith scotland that's in a decent league (and not the arse end of a country's football tier) will need a decent wedge to come here PSV can sign players on lesser wages than we do because holland is a better place to be in, better league to play in, is much more respected by international managers and has proven to be a successful pathway to top leagues for players We can go on about how we are a big club, big history, the name Rangers is known across the world, but unless you are a fan, absolutely no player gives a fuck about that when they know its scotland they'll be playing in and staying in Anothee example 2 players, totally identical in ability and position, literallt exactly the same player We go for one and PSV go for the other, bet you a fiver it costs us more wages to convince our guy to sign for us than PSV have to fork out billscott, SuperLeeMcCulloch, J-Maestro and 2 others
bluenoz 30,848
When you have a summer window of Davies, Matondo and Yilmaz, what do you expect? Three players on around 80k a week. Wilson was a problem. Matondo has improved, but not worth his wages. How much did we pay for Danilo not to play him?

Dont want to tarnish all the new players yet (still think its early) but in general and for years we aren't looking in the right places and, maybe most importantly, we aren't developing our own. PSV tonight had 3 of their own in the starting line up, 2 who featured from the bench and 1 who was unused sub that did feature last week. We had 4 of our own there to make up numbers on the bench. Talented players who are home grown and typically cost less.

Sure Brexit means signing young talent from teams like us is infinitely easier than if they were to go to teams in Europe. Our youth setup that feeds in is basically the scraps the other teams dont want. SIRB_72

Isn’t that mostly funded with player sales though? They’ve brought in over 100 million in player sales the last 2 windows. Like Ajax they have a better scouting network and sign good young talent. docspiderman and Hilly86

Again its easy to sign the good young talent simply because scottish football is seen as a neanderthal backwater shithole of a setup Our scouts could be the best scouts in the world, but any player with potential for being sold at 8 figures is going to choose holland over scotland every single time OrangeRab
