Not banned  last year.  So what.  If I was not done for speeding last year but was this year it’s hardly an argument.  UEFA have raised the bar in terms of what is acceptable and we are now being watched!

Society is becoming less tolerant of homophobia racism and religious intolerance.

As someone who identifies as protestant( my upbringing) but who is atheist ( my open mind and education) I am more interested in equality and climate change and the future than in the past.

I abhor Catholicism and the IRA  and the SNP. I am a Unionist.  I abhor separate schools, lack of promotion of contraception and the rest of their nonsense

Many of us will have different  views and that is ok.

Our club is a broad church.  I have A strong PUL heritage. I don’t however need to sing about it in a manner which damages my club  which I support unreservedly.

We do not have to agree on every aspect of our politics or who plays on the left against them.

... but we should not indulge in self harm.... and TBB and super Rangers etc on match days is now self harm.

I understand that the SFA  and SPL have their hands tied but UEFA and society are watching.

We just need to be clever.

We need to identify our common aim which is the success of our club and do everything we can to ensure we prosper.

You're an atheist Protestant?

I was brought up as a west of Scotland Protestant with Irish roots.

As I have listened to and assessed the evidence I am of the opinion that there is no god! Therefore I am atheist.  I still however have leanings towards the cultural aspects of my upbringing.

I am not so fond of Catholicism.

It does make me smile that catholic’s and Protestants hate each other despite a Christian belief in the same god. ( don’t lecture me on the differences I already know them)

so I am an atheist and an educated scientist  ( there is no god) with Protestant upbringing. My friends would call me a Protestant.

This however is a Rangers forum so my lack of religious belief should have no bearing.

If the belief in a caring god is necessary for Scottish Protestants surely tolerance and understanding would also be part of this.

Apologies for long answer

I blame the new testament.  I reckon Rome fiddled with it then it got translated into the bible we all know. They say God is the creator,  so that would make whatever/whomever created the universe God. So its possible to believe there's a God and be a scientist.  It's just not the God that organised religion teaches us...

Just my two cents worth...

There is no God.

But I respect everyone’s belief.

There is however a Rangers. We have that in common and that is enough.  The fans did well on Sunday.  Our noise was loud and I heard no songs that could be construed adversely.

The team selection, tactics and performance were poor though.

I wanted to us (the fans) to avoid bad press.

I am however disappointed at the public lynching and sine die banning of a 15 yo who made what I thing were inappropriate comments to Scott Brown.  I would have hoped that education and reconciliation would have been a more suitable punishment.

Perhaps he could have raised some funds for skin cancer and made a donation along with a public apology.

The statement that there is no God is ridiculous. You are stating a belief, not a fact. And belief is the realm of religion. Atheism is just as bad as any other religion.

Where is your proof? There is a branch of current scientific thinking that posits all there may be is consciousness, matter doesn't exist at the fundamental level. Panpsychism goes back to Plato and still retains credibility today.

If I had a state a belief state, I'd go with agnosticism, however I'd like to imagine a world where the entirely of the universe is 'god' and we're each a part of it.

Good post mate ..... The word God is just another "lost in translation" word meaning good as in good blessings ..... latterly turned into God bless you ..... most religions are now basically in position to control the masses politically and spiritually ..... most on the spiritual side have done well in this area and depend on the inherent good will that exists in the human race for the continuance of the religion ..... politically it is a weapon of mass destruction that has done more harm than good to the human race.

Unfortunately in the Christian religion the translation of the Bible from Latin to English amongst other languages has left a lot of gaps that confuse the whole issue ..... hence the different factions of the religion.

I prefer to be agnostic in my beliefs .... not just on religion ..... as this does not rule out the existence of some form of creator or higher power that may or may not be out there .... science is all good and well but there is more out there that we know so little of than what we do know .... so it's not the definitive answer if there is or isn't a God.

The scientific method suggests no requirement for there to be a god. You may go with agnostic as is your right.  The statement that there is no god is not remotely ridiculous.  There is no evidence and no need.  Darwinism explains evolution of complex life which is the main evidence god protagonists use.  Read some literature such as the blind watchmaker.

The thing is that most people’s beliefs are fixed and will not change with no evidence.

I do not seek to change your view.

It dismays me that Christian Muslim conflict drives many wars. It dismays me that the Catholic Church promote separate schools and are antiabortion and anticontraception

I find it ironic that with countries Christians fight or Muslim groups fight.

Atheism is not as bad as other religions.

A lack of belief in a being with no evidence of existence is a perfectly sane assessment of the evidence we currently have.

I do not have to prove the absence of something with no evidence. The burden of proof lies with you.

I could debate this endlessly but not sure most in a Rangers forum wish to.

I simply wanted us not to self harm on Sunday. The fans didn’t.  I’m pleased with that. The performance was awful. We need to ( the team) do better.

We belong in different Venn diagrams for religious and other beliefs but we support Rangers where we are as one  and as such we must be a broad church ( pardon the pun). This makes us stronger!

WATP!

I think there is good evidence that Jesus existed and that he had followers.

So he was a leader of men in his time.  People built a religion around him.  I think it’s reasonable to think he was a bit of a charismatic well meaning socialist.  The bible was written at various times and has some pretty good messages such as the Ten Commandments but an eye for an eye is not so forgiving.

However Jesus was the son of a normal man and a normal woman. He was deified by his followers. This often happens.

Laudrup however, .... is a God!!!

That’s just chickening out so you don’t go to hell on judgement day.

If there was a heaven (there isn’t) and they didn’t let non believers in ( that’s wat they say) then I’ve no interest in that party!

on the other hand I look forward to a 55 party!!
