They'd be mental to offer Gerrard the job especially when they're gonnae have pretty much unlimited funds, bringing in Gerrard would be a big gamble.

Guess it would be a first step, though. Until they establish themselves as a top 6 team and can attract somebody with a huge reputation. He’s definitely better than Bruce

With their budget they'll be able to attract somebody with a huge reputation now.

My money is on Mourinho as a short term appointment to get them on the right track, then eventually get replaced by a better long term appointment.

No chance they will go near him , he will take them for a billion when they have to sack him after one season.......

I wonder if the new manager will keep any of the current players.

I don’t think in the short term it would be the worst move to keep Lascelles, Willock, Saint-Maximim and maybe even Dúbravka & Longstaff as the core/spine of the team and build around them.

Must be terrible for player and team morale until January.

Why? If you’re good enough you get to stay. It’s the same when teams in the championship are fighting for promotion to the premier league, only the better players get to stay

because there's literally 3 players in the entire squad who are good enough for where the club wants to go and even then they'll be squad/bench players

I honestly think they'd struggle to beat us although watching Saint-Maximin against Barisic wouldn't be pretty viewing
