He's got the only trophy out the last 9 that mattered mate easy to understand mate.

Going forward if he wants to remain Rangers manager he will need to win trophies. If he doesn't he will be out

Forget the 8 he missed out on they are irrelevant given what was at stake

You realise he could have stopped their quest for 10IAR earlier?

Like it didn’t have to be 1 out of 9 it could have been 1 out of 3

Rangers managers will always be judged on their trophy wins but 1 out of 9 is good enough :belm:

Again you have to grade that on a curve though. Chelsea operate at a far higher level than we do. There’s no shame in being out of your depth at one of Europe’s elite clubs. If Lampard got our job he would do absolutely fine IMO.

What gives you that belief? Remember plg's record before joining us was phenomenal

Just curious btw

Has to be Gio for me but we'll no doubt end up with McInnes or Callum Davidson.

Depressing as fuck tbh, this could set us back for years to come if we don't get this appointment right and they win the league.

Could've been worse though, at least we've still got 25 games in the league to play for and are 4 ahead of them currently.

This month going into the new year is going to be monumental for our club.

He won us the won that mattered the most tho. Anything he owed us from being appointed up until that trophy lift has gone.

The one that matters the most is whatever one is on line whenever we play. Too many in our support seem to have forgetter that.

Bang on. I honestly think that Gerrard will not be happy with only one trophy in 9 from the time he spent with us should he decide to leave.

30 pages since i went to bed, is that him a prick now then?

Nothing concrete as yet, they do seem to think it's a done deal on the villa forum but that means fuck all so hopefully he sees sense and gives them a knock back.

Not the end of the world if he does go, we have a decent squad with a competent manager coming in I'd still fancy us to win the league.

Think of a manager who won't play 3 holding mids would be quite refreshing but ngl will be gutted if he goes.

Reasons to stay:

SG seems loyal to this group of players and he was like this in his playing career. Of course tempted by Chelsea but he stayed.

He wants to experience winning cups. Something he can't do at Villa realistically.

Winnning the league again will allow him to experience CL football on the managing side. No chance of that at Villa.

The emotional connection recently with Walter passing who was his mentor. He dedicated 55 to him. Given the standards Gerrard brings in following our traditions from people like Walter then i cant see him jumping at this time mid season when there is so much to play for. His Kids even wear Rangers tops and he seems to genuinely love our club from how he goes about his business.

The recent comments on Newcastle. He's happy so dont ask silly questions.

-----------------------

Reasons to go

He wants a challenge in the EPL prior to going to Liverpool.

Money will be spent and he recently dropped hints about our board.

Slightly closer to his family who he's been away from for a while.

-----------------------

I can't see him walking prior to a semi final and the chance to win another league. SG is clever enough to know that other offers will come from the EPL. He has invested heavily in us and will want to see the job through with at least a couple more medals in the collection.

Everyone acting likes he’s already away!
I can understand the attraction of an EPL job, but Villa?! An absolute bunch of nobodies? Don’t see why on earth he would want that job. Not much of a stepping stone.

Of course its a massive stepping stone, you think big club chairmen care about the scottish league, his performances in Europe will be whats got him noticed and if he took the villa job and took them to above mid table consistently while playing decent football that would be seen as a success down there

A lot depends on the appeal of being a billionaire's plaything.  It's not Aston Villa doing the hiring and firing, it's their owners.  He's seen their ruthless streak.

Nothing is in concrete yet - he still has to go down there, have his interview, look around and hear what they say and offer him.

Then back to Scotland and weigh up his options and of course listen to his backroom staff and his employers and his family.

He knows how big our club is and how our supporters love him - so this will not be an easy one for him.

He better not go and talk or look around anything
