On the whole players are fitter now than they have ever been so turning 30 isn’t the death kneel for a career that it once was, even more so for a centre half considering pace isn’t a necessity to being a good one. If he signed on for another 3/4 years he could rack up another 200-250 games for us, win a number of trophies and then move on as a fondly remembered future hall of famer who gave the club 7-8 great years of service. Yes he’ll have been well paid for it, but we will have got our return out of it on the park and that will have made him worth the money. I remember an interview he gave a while back where he said 4 years was too long way from his family , so it might be more a case of moving somewhere closer to home. Still not sure how King is tbh. Indi think Katic has the raw attributes to be a good defender. His aerial ability is better than most also which offers something defensively and attacking set pieces. Some things are more important than just footballing ability. That right there is why you won't see Balogun, Helander or Bassey together at CB if Goldson is available.
