Player of the Year nominees:

Craig Gordon (Hearts), Callum McGrgeor & Tom Rogic (celtic) & Charles Regan-Cook (Ross County).

Young Player of the Year nominees:

Calvin Ramsey & Connor Barron (Aberdeen), Lilel Abada (celtic) & Josh Doig (Hibs).

No Tav on the shortlist for POTT and no Bassey for YPOTY are really questionable decisions IMO.

Nobody ever said footballers were smart.

Tavernier over Rogic and Bassey over Barron or Doig - the latter of which has spent a fair chunk of the season out injured I'm sure.

Tav as an individual (which is what the award is actually about) deserves to be up. 12 assists and 7 goals with 88 chances created in 32 games from right back is an incredible individual campaign by any standard.

Could still captain the team to a treble that includes a European  trophy and doesn't get a nomination ffs

These POTY and YPOTY lists are as bad as the one I saw recently in the off-topic for the 50 best guitar riffs of all time. There was no Iommi on that list, in the same way Tav and Bassey aren't included on these lists. Bizarre. File under diddy prize awarded by Tims.

I get your point but I don’t even think we should be having our own player of year awards after the atrocious season we’ve had(domestically), absolutely nothing to celebrate this season tbh.

We can’t complain about being absolutely shite all season( rightly so) then expect numerous nominations for POTY awards

Not sure people are expecting numerous nominations but most of us are surprised Tav isnt on the list. It says it is for performances in all competitions and is lauding Gordon for his performances for Scotland therefore our European games should also be included in the assessment.

So far, second in the league, Europa League semi final and Scottish cup finalists. Do you live your life to the standards you set for others Barry?

You seem to be struggling to separate individual performances (which the award is about) with an overall team performance.

If a team’s overall performance was a significant factor then the likes of Josh Doig, Connor Barron & Calvin Ramsey wouldn’t be anywhere near a nomination either.

Tav and Bassey have both had excellent individual campaigns and those efforts should have been rewarded with nominations.
