Sam Lammers

Type of player who looks to thrive in open games where teams try and play football for 90mins

Scotland he faces two banks of defenders who just want to batter fuck out of anything in blue

Take what we can in the summer for him and get him off the wage books more importantly

Why are people pretending the Dutch league is worse than Scottish football

Probably helps validate their case that Lammers is utter shite, regardless of his record breaking exploits since January.

He’s clearly a very good player who wasn’t suited to the pressure of playing for Rangers and/or being played out of position  against the low block.

Even if the Dutch league is shittier than the SPFL (which is isn’t) scoring that amount of goals in that amount of games is some feat, proving that he’s not a haddie.

With a bit of luck we’ll make a tidy profit on him and at worst, break even (which seldom happens when someone doesn’t click at Ibrox)

Outside the top 3-4, would you say scotland isnt much ahead of the Irish leagues?

Some of the results in europe from spl sides have been an embarrassment

Dont think hes shite, just think he wasnt suited to Rangers/our league.

Best of luck to him and we should be making a profit on current form

At the very least we will make our money back on him and that’s the best outcome anybody could have hoped for when he went out on loan in January.

Dont underestimate our boards ability to have made an arse of it and sold him for a 5er

Would be ideal if a couple Eredivisie clubs wanted him.

Utrecht are a bit tight.

A lot of ‘better’ leagues aren’t much better once you get past the big sides.

I’d say most clubs in the SPL are still ahead of Irish league clubs. There’s only a handful have went professional in recent times but they’re still a bit off it

A number of league of Ireland clubs are better than clubs in the Scottish top flight though. They’re a fully professional league and their football is actually a fairly good standard.

Couple of years ago Sligo Rovers beat Motherwell in the conference league qualifiers home and away. Finished 3-0 on aggregate and everyone in Scotland described it as an upset. Maybe in the fact Sligo Rovers are a lower half of the table side in Ireland, but I’d expect the likes of Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne, St Pats, Bohs, Derry City and usually Dundalk, albeit they’re poor atm, to challenge and get results against a lot of Scottish sides

I think Scottish football is dire

If we can get what we spent on him it would be a miracle considering the start of his season at Ibrox.

All the best to him really.

Dont think anyone can argue different. It gets proven year after year. Not that long since a kilmarnock team that finished 3rd got beat by connahs quay nomads of the welsh league. You could also include dundee utd against Alkmaar in the embarrassment table. They finished similar positions in their respective leagues the year before but utd got thrashed. You can go on and on with examples. Anyone saying our league is comparable to the dutch league for example in strength is frankly kidding themselves on.

This is a myth

not for some time has every team we meet set up to not lose.
teams fancy their chances. And have done for some time

You also are assuming none of that happens in the Eredivisie (low block etc) because you are looking to convince yourself he’s shite, when he’s actually thriving in a better league playing in his natural position

What level you playing at just now mate ?

Lol I’m not. But you could argue that Lammers looked at times like he’d never played any football barring 5s last autumn.

Now he’s arguably the most in form striker in the Dutch league? They must be piss poor at defending, or SPFL defenders must be Saachis Milan reincarnated

He’s only ever scored goals regularly in the Eredivise, for teams who have minimal expectations.

Everywhere else he’s gone, his record has been poor. He only scored something like 11 goals in 117 games between the end of his spell at Herenveen and the end of his spell with us.

Clearly a technically gifted player, but obviously somebody who thrives in a more low pressure and familiar environment.
