Running out of steam

Recommended Posts

We did look leggy about 4-5wks back. Lundstram particularly.

I don't think we are looking that tired just now. Instead we look like we've lost momentum with the international break.

If his levels drop then don't play him or at worst sub him. We have Sterling who is full of running and effort on the bench.

We couldn't match the effort levels to a club fighting relegation all season. Blaming it on fixture lists and fatigue is bogging especially when we have had a week of no football.

It’s not bogging it’s science and reality. For sure it’s not the only factor. Mentality and tactics matter.

But folk are blind if they couldn’t see the decline in the levels of Tav, Goldson and Lundstrum.

Do they look the same players to you as the ones in January?

With all due respect mate, have you seen the level of the game they’re playing at versus us? Playing PL and CL with that style of play under those demands is very very different to playing in Scotland

Our squad players should have enough quality in the tank to beat the team 2nd bottom in the league

Aye but Pep said it, so we use it here as an excuse in Scotland.

Deluded.

Part of me thinks our manager has allowed himself to be caught up in nonsense that surrounds our club. Go back to the end of last year and the beginning of this year and we were rotating four minimum per game. Lately he has been fairly rigid in selection even when it obvious one or two are miles of it. Not even sure we made all five subs today and suddenly we have Dowell who hasn't kicked a ball since January coming into the midfield ahead of Raskin. Not saying Raskin is the answer but we do need some younger more energetic players in the starting 11.

What alot of shit

Absolutely riddled with the fear of failure running through them all mentally weak that's the problem can't deal with pressure.

Place needs emptied before they empty another manager.

Lacking in cunts with the mental fortitude required to take this all the way.

I scientifically think we have absolutely shat it once again with the same shitebags who continue to shite it time and time again, we have the same shitebags who have had numerous skelpings off the tarriers in defence and are fucking honking up front, I have the science to back this up.

Also listen to how bad that makes us sound

Running out of steam when there's a title to play for that's what they all play football for surely?

Aye but it’s not voluntary is it. It’s not like the players don’t understand the importance of the games.

The only point I’m making is if you ask guys like Tav to play significantly more minutes than anyone else in European football.

Why are people surprised if his performances drop off. When all the sports science predicts that.

Coaches don’t rotate players just for shots and giggles. They’re all aware of this basic fact.

I guess it’s easier just to call them bottling cunts.

The fixture load has finally caught up to this small squad.

Expecting Tav, Goldson and Lundstrum to play every game across 4 competitions with no drop off in performance is both stupid and ignorant to all the sports data science.

Expecting not to have an increase in injury rate is also naive.

The best manager in world football is bemoaning fatigue and injury list and talking about resting Rodri.

He’s played 1,000 less minutes than Tav for context.

celtic have really only had the league to focus on and rotate their squad a lot more. Their most played players have played significantly less than ours.

Can see us dropping more points as our key players look absolutely spent. And we’re still suffering from injuries. Having to start Dowell today out of position cost us.

Absolute nonsense

Players constantly want to play and they say that in interviews - Big attraction about Rangers is big games every 3 days

Injuries appear to be through old methods/lacklustre intensity under Beale /GVB and other teams just wanting to win the ball more

Fact is our players just don’t have the mentality to do it week in and week out and when it matters

Saying anything else is just deflecting from how poor we have been today and the last few weeks

4 pts from 12 available isn’t the form of Champions

We played better when we had an actual fixture pile up and half the squad out:lol:

Walter always said it was more about mentality than physicality and that's what we seen today. A lack of fight and desire, the pure basics, missing from us.

They’re old and on the decline.

How many more games have these 3 played compared to tarrier players who play for them and international football?

100%. They’re not young 20s anymore.

Transfermarkt has

Tav 4,500

McGregor 3,100

O’Riley 3,700

Maeda 2,400

Johnston 2,900

Taylor 3,300

The rest of their squad is all pretty heavily rotated.

Tav, Lundstrum and Goldson all over 4,000 minutes.

Not denying their mentality is shite. But don’t think it’s just mentality. Their levels have fallen off a cliff

O Reilly has played virtually every game for them and is an international.

We have a squad full of old and injury prone players.

That is the issue.

maybe Pep just talks about it for shits and giggles.

Rodri at City has played 28 in the prem, 7 champions league, 2 in the club world cup, 1 super cup, 2 in the FA cup and throw in 1 in the community shield.

Haaland has played over 38 in all comps and Bernardo Silva has played 40.

Pep rotates fringe players, not ones he relies on.  Modern day "your tired, are you feeling OK?" pish

I agree with your point fatigue and minutes played with certain players. It is a small factor amongst several others tbh. Within the first 10 mins I thought fuck here we go again we were flat as fuck. We simply can’t start games with so little composure, intent and dropping runners and expect to win football matches.

Add in international games when Tavernier, Goldson and Lundstram get breaks
