No away fans at September Old Firm

Recommended Posts

Should be a pretty easy dispute to resolve this one...

Have we started the process for getting the netting and permission for it in place? If aye then they've not got a leg to stand on and shouldn't be allowed to withhold tickets.

If not then why not, the current works at Ibrox shouldn't have any influence on it, complete opposite stand & no indication from the board that January is a date we should be worried about.

They started their process in June. So 3 months before game.

How much effort really goes into sticking a fucking net up for one game 😂

It’ll be to do with fans being able to get access to the pitch in an emergency evacuation , ie you don’t want fans stuck behind a net in an emergency and end up tangled in the net

Basically they see us at Hampden as an excuse to not give us any tickets for their dump, so they can have a full house of their support to give them as big an advantage as possible (not that they need it) to move at least five points clear. And by the time it comes to the NY game it won’t make any difference that they don’t have fans at our home game.

RANGERS was today informed that Celtic will make no allocation for away fans for the September Old Firm game.

The allocation to be implemented by both clubs was clear and Rangers was taking all steps towards fulfilling that agreement.

In the meantime, we can confirm that no away allocation will apply for the January Old Firm fixture at Ibrox. This is consistent with the reciprocity embedded in the agreement reached between the clubs and the SPFL.

The sooner we get adults running our club the better.

The league should be stepping in and mandating away allocations. Scottish football continues to hate itself to death

League did step in and told both clubs to sort it out. They unwashed fucks sorted out the security issues at their end and spent well into the six figures doing that. Going by what they've said and what our statement doesn't say it's clear we have done fuck all.

I posted it in the Hampden thread at the start of the week that they were apparently holding back the tickets. Tarriers now seem to be going with it now aswell

If the timelines are correct then we should easily be able to point to the fact that they managed it in 3 months so we will have it in place.

Got to assume that the fact it has cropped up so late means there was nothing in the agreement that it had to be in place for the start of the league campaign.

That statement from the club is pretty much is lying down and taking it, rather than forcing the SPFL to enforce the agreement.

”Rangers FC notes the refusal of celtic FC to uphold the agreement reached by both clubs and endorsed by the SPFL.

Whilst Rangers FC note that the works have been carried to ensure the safety of our fans, we would also highlight that the agreement in no way stipulated the works had to be carried out by the start of the season and indeed the timeframe between celtic FC making this  decision and the proposed fixture at Ibrox is greater than the length of time it took celtic FC to complete the works.

The Rangers FC board entered into this arrangement in good faith and the decision taken by celtic FC board can not be seen in any other light than as an attempt to gain a sporting advantage in their forthcoming home fixture. Rangers FC will not enter into a petty tit-for-tat engagement, which we believed to have been left behind us for the betterment of our loyal travelling fan base, and will honour the agreement reached, including the installation of all security measures agreed, for the reverse fixture in January at Ibrox.

In light of these actions Rangers FC calls upon the SPFL to either enforce the agreement or impose sporting sanctions upon celtic FC for not upholding their agreement and abiding by league rules.”

I’m sure there are probably a couple of bits in that that would need fact checked but something along those lines would have left us looking like the grown up in the room and forced their hand. Instead we have allowed them to drag us down to their level, and worse allowed it to seem like it is our fault.
