Popular Post .Williamson. 82,574
celtic hero Charlie Nicholas has admitted he is concerned at the appointment of Steven Gerrard as Rangers manager – claiming it is as big as Graeme Souness’ arrival at the Gers. Gerrard signed a four-year contract to become Rangers manager on Friday. It is the former Liverpool captain’s first managerial role since he retired from playing in 2016. Nicholas admits Gerrard has a tough job on his hands to bridge the gap to his beloved celtic, who have won the SPL title for the last seven seasons. But he thinks Gerrard will be backed in the transfer market and his arrival will improve the health of Scottish football in general. “They’ve got me a bit concerned, I have to admit,” Nicholas said on Sky Sports. “I think it’s an iconic signing. People have been telling me that it’s as big as Gazza (Paul Gascoigne); no it’s not, it’s bigger than that. “The last big thing that happened like this was Souness joining Rangers. “celtic didn’t have the money then and it was an easy league to compete against. But he sorted it Souness, this is similar, very similar.” “I know they’re playing catch-up with celtic, but I was impressed with the way he spoke yesterday. “I don’t think they’ll threaten celtic immediately, but I certainly think they’ll be more investment coming to Rangers. “I think it’s an absolutely amazing signing for Scottish football, but more importantly for Rangers.” WATP-FOREVER, BridgeIsBlue, thebooler and 6 others

left winger 14,293
Charlie Nicholas in 'talking sense' shocker. Looking at all the bitter bastards over the last two days, I can't see a problem with his honesty. Kaydubya11 and Marky.
Marky. 6,946
Don't have to like the guy, but what he is saying is totally fair. Worst kind are those who are disregarding Gerrard's appointment as anything other than a big deal. Nicholas' words are correct here, and it's nice to read some honesty rather than some pure agenda written rubbish. Zappa6995

It is bigger than Brenda, because Brenda is a nobody and Gerrard a somebody. Gerrard is a brand and not even Souness was that, but like when Souness arrived we were in big need. Have no doubt whatsoever, Gerrard is turnng us around. He brings with him, kudos, contacts and influence and a never say die attitude that would motivate the worst of players. He brings world class to Ibrox, which Brenda could never do, because he was never that. The taigs have the fear and I look forward to when the fear turns into to their total annihilation.
