Waghorn

Recommended Posts

If we're unable to negotiate good money for players we sell, at the very least we should be putting sell on clauses for anyone England-bound.

Let's be honest, Waghorn and Garner were pish. But we undersold them at the time, and in the Championship even average players can go for £6-10million these days. Short-sighted and something we can't repeat

£250k though mate mon to fuck.

He had not done anything before he came to us - had been at a fair few times and loaned out. We got him from the dregs of Wigan and after a decent championship season he was shite in the SPL for whatever reason.

We wanted rid and it was clear no one was really interested so we had to sell him for peanuts to get him off the wage bill - and lets face it the majority of fans wanted rid of him.

No one could have said a year later he will go for 8m

putting a sell on clause results in a lower initial transfer so its not always going to work in your favor

Do you seriously think we were getting anywhere close to £8m for him?

Slightly off topic but we seem to have a track record of bringing players in who have a decent background, they play shite for us for a season or so, they get punted for peanuts or payed off and reach they go on to regain their form when they move on.   Something deeply wrong there.

Waghorn doesn't fall into that category though. He's had 2 good seasons in his career. His first with us and last year.

symptomatic of the state of scottish football. if you come here and fail - and he did - then you are seen as the lowest of the low. That last season he had with us was laughably bad at times - and pedro gave him plenty of chances. You fail here and there is literally no sell on value.

There is no one in our squad named Waghorn .... or Martyn for that matter .... so why do we persist on chasing stories of ex players who are no longer relevant .... this ex player proved just how relevant he actually was when he was here ..... or should I say ... irrelevant?

Time to move on folks.

Whoever pays 8 million for a one footed overweight carthorse should be sectioned .

Guy is no where near overweight, he looked like a bodybuilder.

Let's be honest he was shit up here, at the time we got 240k more than what he was worth at the time.
