If he keeps that form up this winter period isn’t looking quite as horrible. If Morelos or Roofe want back in the team, they're going to have to play a lot better. With Jack back we can hopefully have that extra energy he brings to the midfield. How can he be out for so long but yet look so sharp in his first start since? Even on Thursday night for the goal his first touch from Aribo was unbelievable then the weight and timing of the pass to Hagi was absolutely spot on. Not a hint of being ring-rusty. We've missed him doing the work of two players. I've put this out there before but worth posting again, especially considering today's game for a number of reasons. Jack started just under half of our games last season. 16 starts in total. In those games we kept 15 clean sheets, and the one in which we did concede Jack had been subbed as he was injured (Dundee United). It is an absolute fact that when Jack started last season, while he was on the park we did not concede a single goal. The only time we did concede with Jack on the park was when he came on as a late sub in a forgettable game against Accies. People keep slating our defence this season and rightly so as we have now conceded 13 goals and it is only November. Last season come May we conceded an equal 13 goals for the full season. Shocking when you think about it. The CBs (and Tav for some reason) are getting the bulk of the blame but we defend as a team and like today a lot of our goals conceded are down to the midfield making mistakes. Jack solves a lot IMO. I'll now reverse the stats in the first paragraph because 16 starts may not seem like much but it really isn't far away from half the season. In the 22 games that Jack did not start we conceded 12 out of our 13 goals conceded. Over so many games that is not a coincidence. You might have seen that opinion on Twitter but it was an opinion that was justly growing on here as he wasn't playing well at the time and Sakala on the left was an exciting unknown. Before his injury Kent would receive the ball, control it, do a bit of skill then pass it back to Kamara. Today was a totally different player. Almost everything he did was positive. I meant a lot of the people I saw who were of that opinion were the knee jerk types you see on places like that, these guys are generally roasters. I think he’s our best player and we’re set to be in a far better place now he’s back especially if Thursday and today we’re anything to go by. He was rated a doubt as far back as the celtic game at Home and I don’t think he was 100% right up until he was ruled out. A fully fit kent is a massive boost to this team. After watching today I'm more confused than ever over our strongest 11.
