We always knew he would leave. It was always going to be a matter of time. He was set to leave a hero after last season though. He achieved the primary goal. He could have left with a fanfare in the summer. However going now 100% tarnishes his legacy, especially if he takes his full team with him at such a crucial time. It's pretty unforgivable. I thought his character was better than that. 

If he goes I will never forget what he's done, and we're clearly in a far stronger position now. It would just be a really sad and nasty end to a great period. I think there's a way to leave and all of this seems to be in poor taste.

Some of the comments towards Gerrard in here are a joke, we are the same forum who slaughtered the papes when they turned on brenda when he left for Leicester!!

This day was always going to come so I don't get the hatred towards the guy,  we all knew it was a gamble for us to employ him with no experience considering where we were at that time, yes 1 trophy isn't the greatest return but that really isn't a true reflection on how far we have come under his leadership 

Players and managers will always look to challenge themselves and I guess a lot of the ill will against him is down to it makes us look small fry to lose our manager to a tin pot club like Villa in som posters eyes, problem is we are a big club in stature but play in a tin pot league, Villa are a decent sized club that play in a huge league and that is just reality

Obviously the timing is shite with the magnitude of this season but there are no guarantees that if Gerrard were to stay that we win anything as we certainly look a poorer side at both home and in Europe so maybe a change in manager will actually benefit us

You're saying we're as well pulling out the league without two players. That's nonesense. Even without Kent and Kamara we can still field a team capable of beating anyone else in this league. It's mental if you think we can't.
