McLaughlin

GOAT

Recommended Posts

McGregor is the best available but is a victim of age, it happens to us all eventually. McLaughlin is not good enough and never will be. Can only imagine McCrorie is fantastic at carrying the kit bag because he never gets a chance to show that he could progress into a number 1. So a new goalkeeper is now a priority for next season.

Statistically he is the worst.

Stats are a lot of pish when it comes to this.....a team has 2 shots on target in a game against us and score with one of those shots....the goalie may not of had an earthly of saving it but the stats say he let in 50% of the shots on target....just for the record McGregor made 3 good saves on Sunday.....the way people make out how bad his shot stopping has become is way over the top

I agree he is still a good shot stopper, and still has a wow moment in him, but it has declined.

Problem for McGregor is that his main attribute was all about shot stopping. He has never had a particularly great technical game to fall back on (albeit adequate), so that shot stopping decline magnifies a bit more.

No shame in it, he is 41 in a fortnight, and has been an outstanding keeper for Rangers. He will be a hard man to replace, but he needs replaced.

See the thing is, I don’t even think it’s an area where you have to spend big to get real quality, certainly not to the level you usually have to in other areas of the pitch.

Every Summer you see loads of good, solid keepers moving under freedom of contract, or for small fees to other clubs.

If we do our homework properly we could easily sign somebody who could be our number one for the next 3 years without breaking the bank for them.

Completely agree.

I think it's one of the easier positions to fill, which makes it all the more annoying we haven't.

For me our market should be 2nd choice keepers in the EPL wanting first team football. There's a lot of good keepers down there sitting on the bench who are more than capable.

McGregor doesn’t make many saves these days and McLaughlin is just a poor goalkeeper. Another mismanagement within the squad. McCrorie should be our keeper till the end of the season then a decision made on whether he is to keep that position or we need to recruit a new number 1.

Do you think the recent change of squad management power from Wilson to Beale has put Wilson under much more scrutiny from within than before? Alot of signs pointing in that direction.

I’ve said this a million times on here

mcgregor should have been replaced however, if it’s him and mclaughlin who are both at the club then mcgregor should start, even at his worst he’s still miles better than mclaughlin, that last 30 seconds last night was embarrassing from him.

even his attempt at the second goal, he doesn’t push himself up the way to try and get a hand to it, it’s a weird dive he attempts.

he did do well to not be caught out by lafferty with his effort but all in all an absolutely fucking terrible performance again.

Clearly McCrorie shouldn’t be our keeper though, that’s 2 managers now that have overlooked him when we obviously need someone new. He must be pretty poor in training in truth

It's a real worry our goalkeeping position right now. Neither of them give you any confidence. Our defence need to do much better as well.

Not a lot being made at some of the chances our defence have given up

McCrorie won’t be playing. Beale has said he sees McGregor as the best in the country and that he thinks highly of McLaughlin.

Pretty sure when he first came in he said something along the lines of McCrorie going back out on loan aswell

I’m paraphrasing here but the other day Beale said McCrorie would get opportunities before the end of the season to show he could become the number one.

Well then he’s all over the place because in a press conference a few weeks ago he said McCrorie was possibly going out on loan again

Not good enough.

The GK situation is a perfect example of the recruitment issues at the club.

McGregor should have retired at the end of last season, McLaughlin should not have been extended during the season and we should know by now whether McCrorie is good enough to be a starter or back up.

A position that we have been consistently strong in, criminal mismanagement.

Maybe he’s just seen how poor McGrgeor & McLaughlin are now, but that in itself doesn’t make sense when he said McGregor was the best keeper in Scotland the other day too
