Never had the pleasure of meeting her but I have briefly met her son John on a couple of occasions. We seem to be losing some amount of the “old guard” at the moment and we can only hope there are more people like Tiny and Jimmy Bell at the club who are perhaps just at the start of their careers. Surrogate Mum's to all of our past and present heroes .... unsung heroines for most of their time by the general support yet they carried out their duties without a murmur. Without them the standards would just be standards ... but with them the standards become alive and more important than ever. Tiny was the epitome of these standards in her own way and it is with heavy heart a sad day to hear of her passing .... she will be sadly missed. Surrogate mum is a brilliant way to describe it, and the importance of characters like the aforementioned to keep the players grounded and as importantly, feel like they have family there, can't be underestimated.
