Still looks fit and determined. As long as we don't play him as a lone striker and expect him to have the work rate of Morelos he will do just fine.

Said this in another thread. We need to be smart with him and tell him to focus on preserving his energy by playing along the edge of the 18 yard box and focusing on getting on the end of chances we create.

Not all the time but at some point I’d like to see us try a narrow 4-4-2, possibly something like

             McGregor

Tav Goldson Worrall Barisic

                 McCrorie

          Jack.             Arfield

                    Kent

             Morelos Defoe

Think they would make a great partnership up front and obviously with Davis and possibly Kamara coming in it’s a good way to make use of our central midfielders.

Been listening to Allen on Talksport and Gerrard on Sky Sports News about Defoe and they've both showered Bournemouth with huge compliments over this loan which makes me think they're paying the vast majority of his wages, saying things like how Eddie Howe is looking at Defoes career and not about Bournemouth. If so shows Allen is doing one hell of a job.

Relationships, and how you conduct yourself in any walk of life are so important. You never know when you need to cash in a favour. For years we have been let down badly by charlatan after charlatan. However we now seem to be in a much better position of strength. We have guys who are acting with more professionalism at boardroom level, and we are also trying to recruit players of a higher calibre, who are held in high esteem at their clubs and also within football.

Let's not kid ourselves Defoe and Davis could earn more money elsewhere. Bournemouth and Southampton could also earn more money. They could also still play at EPL level, high end Championship level IMO. However the combination of these players earning a bit of goodwill from their clubs, the professionalism of Allen and co and then of course you have the Gerrard factor all of which gives us a bit of an edge. All those things added together give us a huge advantage. Gerrard's standing in the game, that he has built through the years gives us better opportunities too. He is highly respected. Take Kent for example. I don't know if Kent will sign permanently or whether we will be priced out however say Liverpool accept a bid of £4million for arguments sake from someone and we can only offer £3.5million, as mad as it sounds they may show some goodwill to us if it's what Kent wants as they value their relationship with Gerrard (and us) and possibly the fact he may one day become their manager. A few hundred thousand to a club with their funds MAY not be considered a deal breaker for Liverpool in such an instance.

Sometimes I just stop and think how mental the last few years have been. If somebody told you three or 4 years ago that we would have Gerrard and Defoe at the club you would have booked them into the nuthouse 😂

Ebt's were always going to come back once the dust settled mate.
